Herx-agreed. My last post came after I had a conversation with an attorney about laws regarding sex and technology. Since an earlier article stated that the text did not turn sexual until the boy was sixteen. Evidently, the teacher could have sexual contact with a sixteen yr old boy, but not receive pictures of him. Both are clearly wrong. If this is a correct statement of the current laws, I think the laws need to catch up with technology. I agree, that somewhere there is evidently proof. Regardless of gender of adult or kid, if adult gets pics of kid unwanted-do not respond, and report immediatel-common sense. Amazing that some miss this. Just saying, even though not the case here clearly.

bloomin- the article CLEARLY states that SHE initiated the exchange when she started texting him in 2009 when he was fifteen years-old. OK, first of all, why does his teacher have HIS cell phone number. He's a student not her son, nephew, cousin or best friend's kid. Second, she is the adult in the situation and knew what she was doing was wrong. Third, it's pretty apparent that she wasn't coerced into sending pics of her kitty cat to him and vice versa. They exchanged graphic photos at least twenty times each. The police do not have to publish what they did or how they did it to satisfy our nosy nature. They can search her cell phone service and find those texts and pictures whether she showed them or not. Once you put that stuff out there through computer or cell phone, it's there to stay. They can retrieve it from the cell carrier. She obviously had photos of him still on her possession or they would not have been able to press charges.

"the boy said he and Bennett exchanged about 20 sexually explicit photos"? Does the prosecution have photo's sent from Bennetts phone? Why does the article not state-police recovered photos sent from Bennetts phone.

I really like technology but do think that people must not think about what they are doing or are on c r a c k or something.

I would just think that there would need to be proof that Bennett sent these pics as well, as we are all subject to unwanted email and texts like we have received unwanted phone calls.

For her to plead guilty, one would think that she knows she participated and there is proof. Hope she is not being coerced.

All teachers and others who work with kids need to know that if a kid does send inappropriate material, they better report it to supervisor immediately. I have heard of this happening and resulting in charges when the adult did not respond.
