I always thought the goal of education is to spread factual information from educators, books to students. Instead it has been degraded to athletics, teacher unions crying for more money less hours, complaining about obese students, yet feeding them more& more. And when it's all said and done the grad. rate is still poor and some can't add 2+ 2. Who is at fault? We are.

Here we go with another “public-education is failing” rant. First, ranking the United States 17th in the world is meaningless. You’re comparing apples to oranges….different cultures, different population numbers, different values. We have a massive system that is forced to cater to all. Second, the “public education is failing” crowd have an ulterior motive. The politicians and business-people who constantly tell us schools are failing see public education as a market where they can make money. They keep the “failure” narrative going so they can market the latest “here’s how to fix schools” product. Unfortunately, the talking heads jump on the band-wagon with them. Third, if the schools actually are failing, their failure is a symptom of the society as a whole. You can’t raise a stable, studious child in a culture filled with broken relationships, loose values and a “do what makes you happy” attitude.
