STEUBENVILLE — Three school levies in Jefferson and Harrison counties failed to pass Tuesday....

You can fool some of the people some of the time.....
But the Buckeye Local School Superintendent was misleading to suggest they needed the levy money or couldn't find the funds elsewhere.
They padded the safety levy with extra personnel, cars and costs they really didn't need.
No way they needed four cars per school. If a school is in lockdown you don't abandon the other schools.
You don't need more than one vehicle per school. You don't really need any vehicles at all. Just have the resource officer stay at the school.
And, you don't need a full-time psychologist. They can't identify the next nut case anyway.
If this is so important, so critical, so essential they can't live without it, THEN CUT OUT SOMETHING ELSE NOW!!!!!! like the board members salaries.
Why wait a minute if you really believe kids are in danger???? Why not do something now, cut another program, why wait for another levey?
Or is it really not that critical you don't need to start now.

The levy has failed.
Superintendent Brian Williams should call an EMERGENCY school board meeting TODAY and say...
"Since I believe the children are at risk since I felt I had to had the safety officer for students' safety, we are meeting today, and the meeting will not end, until we find the money from another progam to fund this critical safety need."
Not good. The excesses of the past in the levies may be coming back to haunt the schools when they most need the money. Too, you have the economy and that a large voter segment are middle aged now, no longer have kids in the schools and Obama is taxing them hard. Hard to get worked up on a fixed income to give more money to schools that do not seem to work very well. Schools fail because the schools are not allowed to teach to the top, they must always teach to the bottom dwellers and their moronic parents. Old folks are bullied by Obama who threatens them every time someone disagrees with him, and he has failed to bump the SS since he has been in office..cept once when he gave a small raise that he immediately offset with a raise in the Medicaid premium. School funding requires confidence in the schools. Thats not there anymore, just ask people in Marshall County about what their BOE did to them. Bigfoot will be found there before the next levy passes in MC.
There is no reason to have five school districts in Jefferson county paying administrative salaries five times over and operating underutilized buildings, especially considering the lack of population around here. Consolidate into one county system and allocate the facilities to where they are best suited and most efficiently used, close the rest.
responsible tax payers are fed up. they don't expect improvement in the school industry no amtter the amount of money it's fed. they accept that all students are not equal and failure isn't a stigma in modern times.
