it would not have been only the F16s. it would have been a team of SpOps. you have no idea of what these guys can do. I know. Knowing some personally, I know they could have been there in time. That is what they are trained to do and have done this kind of things around the world already.

"with F16s only 1600 miles away, they could have been there in less than an hour and a half"

I'm not and never have been a fighter pilot but it seems to me that it would be very difficult to target a few individuals at night from an F-16 flying at several hundred miles per hour.

LogHog: I watched Robert Gates, former Secretary of Defense. on Face the Nation Sunday. I have always felt that he was a straight shooter (your opinion may differ). If you haven't watched the interview I suggest that you do. He said that he would have made the same decision that SecDef Leon Panetta did. He basically said that it takes planning to execute a successful military operation, planning takes time, and that time was not on our side. Anyone who has undertaken an endeavor (military or otherwise), I think, would agree.

it's very close to being too late now.... with F16s only 1600 miles away, they could have been there in less than an hour and a half, and YES it matters to some of us Americans
