Why don't they create a law that any establishment that serves alcohol & you buy it, you have to use a breathalyzer machine BEFORE leaving? Then if you fail, your called a cab or another ride & your car keys are taken from you. If you resist, the cops are called! This would also save the bar/establishment from getting sued for serving to many & letting the person leave totally intoxicated & possibly killing someone. They should be held as responsible as the person drinking.

There are more accidents & domestic incidents caused by alcohol than anything else yet it's still sold on shelves everyday. That's all you see on TV, Facebook & magazines is everyone drinking alcohol or advertisements for it. The Government should start by banning it on TV, etc. then assigning everyone an alcohol purchase card once they turn of age & no matter where they go to buy alcohol, stores or bars, they have it swiped & there should be a cutoff/limit for each day. It should automatically register with the police if they are out in bars drinking all night which in turn should send a police car to the area they are drinking at as well as cut them off at the designated limit. If the bartender continues to sell it over the limit without swiping the card, then they should be held responsible for any accidents, DUI's or domestic incidents that happen afterwards. When you go to Kroger, or most other stores, you already have a card that is swiped for purchases so what i

You dont need to have a habit of doing this to see the problem. Wrath is right. Outside having half a drink in the summer and decide to go to Kroger. Are you safe or will you end up in jail. If I had 2, I would never go. Based on this, it sounds like if you drank half glass of wine at olive garden and had to leave before coffee, you would fail test. I happen to like ONE small wine with dinner. Get a cab. I think I will stay home and cook and not risk.Wouldnt this make the enhanced DUI .08....Ahhh. Big bucks are there. I know many who do not abuse but do look forward to dinner out with a drink. Bet it effects restaurant business. Bye Bye Alpha, Abbys, and many others

The bar business has already been destroyed in almost every small city and village. the only place people go out any more is down town in the big cities because they feel safety in numbers. Around here the cops just sit around and wait for a person to walk out of a business that serves alcohol and get in a car unless the business owner is related to the mayor or chief of police.

Human beings have different tolerances because we are different.

Some human beings can take more punishment than others.

Some human beings have better reflexes after 4 beers than do others.

If they are going to lower the BAC limit in a blatant power/money grab, I propose that seniors be retested for reaction time, vision, hearing and flexibility every 2 years.

Senior citizens cause a great many accidents yet, we never hear about testing them. Why? Because they vote in large numbers, that's why.

If it is unsafe to be on the road with some guy who just had 4 beers, it is unsafe to be on the road with some little old lady with a bad hearing aid, expired glasses prescription, bad back and slow reflexes.

The problem is when the limits get so low, the resolution of the measuring equipment becomes critical and sorry but I don't trust Billy Bob Police inc. to handle it properly.

So you drink NOTHING but eat fish cooked in wine and then blow a 0.06 at a checkpoint and your life goes to sh**!

" Yeah officer, honest, I drank NOTHING. . . ."

I don't think alcohol should be banned but I do feel driving under the influence is wrong. I would say for the most part the ones who disagree are the ones that do it. Yes the cost is high, but not if you don't do it. I also agree that there shouldn't need to be so many laws, unfortunately some people are too ignorant to do the right thing without someone watching over their shoulder. And too many refuse to take responsibility for their own actions. But that is the "me" society that we live in. It's all about getting what you want or how something effects you without a care about how that will effect others.

@wvuthinking yeah I guess the posted speed limit was 76 miles per hour in that crash. Just because a person was found not guilty does not mean they are innocent!!

Dont want people driving drunk. Also dont want that 95 yr old lady that cant see next to me going 25 on interstate. Since .08 is 2 drinks, I personally do not think this causes an impairment that is equal to less than elderely, those eating, nervous/anxious people, depressed people, those who took prescription pain killer as prescribed (just 1), those who didnt get enough sleep, those who have not had their coffee yet, etc.

idliketoknow has it right on. Keep all the legal people working and develop more programs like mental health court, we can lower and expand on alcohol court. We can give them weekly classes to attend and hire someone to teach them for months.

I think they want a grant for classes for suspended license offenders. They are to attend class each week and pay $20 week for 10 weeks, teach them for going to work on a suspended license and not paying their fine on time. If they could get a grant-it would happen.Thats what most of these stats are used for

If its about safety than no alcohol in your system would the right thing to do. How does one sit down and think that taking something that is medically, scientifically and legally proven to make you less safe on the highway is still a good thing to do? .05% pretty much takes you there at not having any thing to drink when you drive. So if you think its OK to drink "some" and drive what kind of logic is that? You would be outraged if the guy who is going to do your heart surgery has a couple of drinks before surgery just to take the edge off but see nothing wrong with pounding down some drinks and then getting behind the wheel of a car and drive around every else's family and down the street where the neighbor kids ride bikes. Why is any alcohol and driving a good idea? Its not and most people must agree because they have voted in a government that intends to run every facet of your life, down to what you eat, drink, drive, wear and who you talk to and what you are allow

.08 is already low enough!

Drivers are FAR more impaired by cell phones and texting and now these clowns are trying to push for "tired" driving!!

We don't NEED or WANT more laws!!!

ONE light beer could currently get you arrested so why is this needed?

It is ALWAYS about BRIBES!!!!

And corrupt governments like we have locally will be the first to jump on board with ANY federal grant that requires them to do so as long as they get the check from uncle sam!!!

I will ALWAYS refuse a breath test and ALWAYS refuse to cooperate in ANY un-constitutional stop and will immediately file suit for ANY violation of my civil rights!!

I don't NEED or WANT a nanny state!!

This isn't the jurisdiction of nanny Bloomburg!!

AGAIN, the problems we have in society CAN'T and WON'T be cured by more oppressive laws!!

ANY government that continues to create more and more laws to restrict it's citizens is corrupt to the core and needs to be abolished!

NO. You could inhale that much just standing around a bar!

The REAL damage is done by people who are WAY over 0.08. New limit is couple teaspoons of cough syrup for a 100 pound girl!

But in Whee-ling it makes no difference, if you are well connected you can walk away from a 0.3 if you know the right people.

Absolutely. DUI's are a cash cow for the legal system. Has nothing to do with safety. That kid a few years ago killed that girl in the grove and got what? A good lawyer is what he got. They dont give a d... about safety. All mighty buck. Just make it illegal to drink and we can really fill the jails. I am so sick of hearing about people being legally robbed by government. The medicaid system is so abused, some by receivers, more by providers. They also know that the people on Medicaid often do not have the resources to complain about how they are treated.
