If he bashed Muslims or gays, he would have been fired on the spot.

Catholics? Eh, that's not so bad these days.

So the fact he was voted the best University President in the USA is all forgotten now?

If he were still President of WVU, they would have laughed it off over a dinner of road kill and Boone's Farm and he would be a guest on Leno!

to be in the public eye. It takes so much humor away from an already humorless world and the ability to laugh at ourselves. Oh what a boring nation we are becoming. Do not our First Amendment rights allow us to poke fun at anything or anyone anymore. No doubt, Dr. Gee has done the correct thing by stepping down and no doubt today he regrets what was said, perhaps taken out of context. It cost him his job unfortunately and cost us a great leader at OSU.

We need to lighten up!!!

Gordon Gee has been a great President at OSU. No doubt I have personally made statements within closed meetings and public forum that taken out of context would prove to be an embarrassment. Dr. Gee has done many great things for our beloved OSU. He was close to the students, often appearing unannounced to their fun activities and parties. No other Buckeye President can claim that close relationship with the student body. Plus our University has grown immensely under his leadership in academics, foundation money and student body. Plus national rankings. He is a great speaker and I am sure the speech he was giving, he had the audience in his hand. I am sure many of the Priest I have known would have laughed with him on his comments. They would agree that his early efforts to get Notre****into the Big 10 proved ND "to be a tough nut to crack". and they would be the first to admit it. What a pity that we have to be so "politically correct" all the time beint in the

It wasn't just the comments, the off the wall stuff that caused the university trustees to finally take action. Mr. Gee was a very high maintenance, expensive, university president; some very interesting expense accounts were submitted annually to the O.S.U. Business office from the office of the university president. The Ohio State University is one of those strange middle American, Big 10 Academic institutions whose impact on the local business and political community is way beyond what other state university systems ever achieve. Penn State, Ohio State, those two Michigan Schools, they have been able to function without a lot of outside supervision.

Gee (pun intended), now Gordon will have opportunity and time to tell his granddaughters the parables of life.

I suggest he start with the story of the Fox who could not reach the grapes and declared 'they were sour' anyhow.
