I have the greatest faith in her defense attorney and, along with the prosecuting attorney, would have followed their recommendations.

She is guilty as H. and deserves prison. But- I do not agree with the term of "Sex Offender"

"her relationship with the victim was not sexually gratifying." From what dark hole was that analysis pulled out of?

I know a person that is doing 5 years mandatory minimum sentence for receiving and sending electronic photos as well as possession of a 17 year old female who was sexually active with adults and legally old enough to be by WV law. There was no sex between them. I see a few difference in the cases. she is a teacher..he was not..her victim was only 15 under age for consent.. his was not..she is a female..he is not. I fail to see why she didn't get 5 years.

She should never have confessed to this crime to begin with. There was no evidence and they would have had to let her walk.

Some of the best advice ever, from "Goodfellas": Never rat on your friends, and ALWAYS keep your mouth shut."

I despise child molesters and rapists. I think that they should be tortured and hung from crosses and left to rot. I do NOT think that this woman belongs on the same list with these people.

In fact, I think that the sex offender registry constitutes "cruel & unusual punishment."

Think about this. Maybe some guy kidnapped and murdered a child 30 years ago and served 25 years. He moved in next door to a family with small children. How would they ever know about him? Why isn't HE registered but a guy who boffed his underage girlfriend IS registered?

If you are dangerous enough to put on a public list, you should still be in jail.

If you are not dangerous enough to still be in jail, you should not be on a public list.

"Sex Offenders" are not permitted to live within 1,000ft from a school-right? Well, how about if kids move in next door or on the same block? What about when school is over for the school year and the kids LIVE within 1,000 ft of the offender? We have a can of worms here. Be realistic.

Typical WV injustice. There's not a lot of money to be made in these types of cases, and therefore...oh well. Too bad she didn't domestically assault someone, or get a DUI..that's where the big money is..right prosecutors? Isn't that the teet you suckle?

FN BS.

I can't understand, Richardwhee. No, they aren't allowed to live within a certain distance from the school. If the kids get out of school or move next door to her, that has nothing to do with her living "near a school" ? That being said, I think being on the registry is a bit extensive in this case. There aren't even any photos for evidence. But then again, I am 36 and that is disgusting considering my oldest son is 14 years old. I would be pretty upset. Lastly, perhaps she should have thought about her children being punished. It isn't the judge that punished them, she did. She can't expect someone else to have a concern for her selfishness. Bottom line, stay the*****away from children! It is disgusting!

Mazzone wanted to "send a message" is why she got the year in the pen. He didn't want to see an epidemic of this behavior. The education system around here is going through a period of getting younger teachers, both male and female, and he wanted those growing up in the "it's all about ME" generation to think twice before they considered similar behavior. If this woman has to pay the price, so be it, in my opinion. Why would she think her body would look so good to a kid who just started sneaking in to see his dad's PLAYBOYs is beyond me.

Dino, I agree. I think what he did was right. This type of behavior is all too common anymore. I can't understand the attraction to a child or what would possess someone to entertain the thought of conversing with a child in this manner. I just feel bad for her children, not only will they not have a mom for the next year, they will also have friends that have parents who check the registry and she will appear no matter where she goes. These children will live in this shadow for a long long time. Sad.
