It's amazing and yet sad and telling by the reaction of those who dismiss the value of these jobs. Idiots like the Hoopie seem to think that everyone should be able to walk right into a high paying job with great benefits without proving oneself (even though the supposed union man Hoopie is for the destruction of thousand of these types of jobs by supporting Obama's war on coal). As an employer, I will not higher anyone with no or little job experience no matter what his/her credentials are. I want to see that someone knows how to show up for work everyday, work hard everyday, and possess a good attitude. This is hard to find in this area where most possess the "I deserve" attitude typified by Hoopie. You deserve squat. Earn it. These type of jobs are a proving ground for employers who pay higher wages and better benefits. Do not thumb your noses at the loss of these valuable jobs.

BREAKING NEWS FROM THE MEDICAL COMMUNITY: BASKETBALL & CRIME OFFERS AN INVERSE CORRELATION.

Ron Violi is paid more than the CEO of the Cleveland & Mayo Clinic. He should have drawn $250,000 from his petty account fund and allowed the Bishop to procure additional exotic pets. Incidentally, 90% percent of drug abusers enjoy playing basketball as well as their suppliers and a late night illuminated basketball court is ideal for trafficking! And please, spare the readers from having to spend their time and vision recognizing our City MisManager!

You amaze me with your words. You are all idiots. I know quite a few people from Teletech that are in college full time and work full time there. They are not there because they can't find anything else. They choose this job because they do make decent wage starting out and then they get commissions of some sort. Not because they aren't educated, but because there is nothing in the Valley. Does anything make you happy? If they are uneducated then they cant get a job and have to depend on the system, if they have jobs they are uneducated and can't find anything else. Single mother high school dropout, if she had aborted the child she would be a baby killer. You people must sit around having nothing else to do like old hens and just wait for something to appear here so that you can make yourself feel "smart" by rambling off a bunch of bull just to stir up controversy. Are you that lonely? Maybe you should find a hobby.

Teletech was a call center and like the place in Warwood, these jobs were filled by people who couldn't land a job anyplace else -

Sales of tattoos and facial piercings is sure to plummet -

How is a single mother high school dropout supposed to afford a new tattoo -

These jobs might be low end, but they are vital. While there is no question that companies like this do better in local economies that are suffering, the whole country is losing low wage and skill jobs to foreign lands because of the uncaring attitude of those running our government in both political parties.

Our politicians are super rich elitists who retreat to their gated communities and send their children to private schools where they are insulated from the consequences of the decisions they force down the throats of the rest of us.

The Republicans are honest about their quest for free markets without borders in their quest of cheap labor. The super rich in the Dem party want the same thing, they just call it something else... fair trade, enhanced opportunity, "global" development. And, they are more than willing to trade middle class prosperity for "good will" sending our jobs to an ever increasing array of third world countries.

Obama will send these j

Hoopie, What exactly do you consider a living wage? Buying a $200,000 house, $50,000 vehicle and eating t-bone!

I guess the truth hurts and has to be hidden....

The most commented article was about Wheeling Hospital giving money for the ballfield.

But you can't comment on it now.

Why not?

We all know why don't we.

Well of course they’re on Government assistance, hoopie. How is a single mother high school dropout supposed to afford a new tattoo on each of her children’s’ birthdays and a new eyebrow stud on her own birthday and still have money leftover for food and rent. Duh...

These types of jobs are similar to Wal Mart jobs. The wages low thus qualifying the workers for gov't assistance. The workers don't get paid a living wage, even at full time. The company's make huge profits but push their workers to the gov't to get housing subsidies, foodstamps, health care, etc. Only in America do so many think this is just fine. Don't pay your workers a fair wage, let the workers get their benefits from the gov't all the while raking in profits and avoiding taxes. Corporate America is to blame for all of this mess.

Since coronet food is gone now, these entry level jobs are now becoming scarce

Too bad the spineless politicians and commissioners refuse to demand local workers be used by the pipeliners!!!

Area unemployment would be ZERO!!!

Instead we are being over run with mexicans!!!

richardwee, So if the peeps want unions to go away, maybe they should demand that those on the tax payer rolls go first! Most of the babble is against the private sector (steel, coal, utilities, etc) unions! 7% in the private sector are unionized! Do they really have "sway?"

Dying gov - That 36+% is one reason the gov keeps getting bigger. One reason- Some active military, before retiring, submit paperwork to have their job slot converted to civilian. Then retire and do the same job as a civ.

A few years ago Teletech began outsourcing the calls to other countries. Some of the Moundsville Teletech employees were “treated” to a free trip to those countries to train the new employees. Little did they know (or care) that they were in the process of helping eliminate their very own jobs. Hey, the free trip was pretty sweet. So, now, Teletech seems to have everything in place to make the best profit from the low paid employees in these other countries. Bam, there goes the Moundsville location. Alrighty then, now that we have that settled, let’s go look for new jobs.

Maybe those displaced could join the Wheeling police mega-force. "Law" enforcement is a booming business in the valley. BTW..they need someone to drive that massive mobile forensic lab...anyone have a CDL?

Good luck people of MDSV26041.

ABSOLUTELY SHAMELESS! Commissioner SHAMBAUGH, offers false hope to the soon to be unemployed by promising them the benefit of his influence to secure them employment in the natural gas industry. He is shameless and devoid of character!

Dino- You are right. They can't blame this on the unions. However if unionized at the start, they wouldn' have lasted this long.

Who are this company's clients and how did this company, by telephone, serve those clients?

Answering this question would assist in validating the closure. Where are they relocating to?

Does this newspaper allow their "reporters" to ask any questions?
