"I own I am not a friend to a very energetic government. It is always oppressive. It places the governors indeed more at their ease, at the expense of the people." --Thomas Jefferson to James Madison, 1787. (Forrest version) ME 6:391

I concur with Mr Jefferson!!!

The new laws concerning jails and prisons is just the next wave of failure in the face of crime. We don't want to put people in jail because its expensive. And yet, the legislators are less likely to be victimized by crime than the people they represent. There is no consequence to committing crime other than endless hearings about how the criminals feels and what does he want..and even when its his 15th offense he is still being given home confinement or work release (with no job). Alternative sentencing and the armies of social workers and corrections people who are manning day report centers and halfway houses and probations will eventually cost more than incarceration. But what do you say to people who have been robbed, beaten or raped by someone who is being kept out of jail by the courts. Yes, I said OUT of jail by the courts. And how much do we pay each year in WV for "court appointed" lawyers to people who are working? Next wave of crime vicitimization for us. Yi

They repealed the sterilization laws for the mentally incompetent but they should reinstitute them for people below a certain IQ and/or who haven't worked since the Emancipation. Low IQ bums are pushing out tax credits like bunnies and they are overwhelming the nation. When the great majority of children come from moronic, lazy parents, the entire nation suffers as a whole. We have to think about society, right liberals?

And getting your parents' permission before you hit a tanning salon is probably a good idea. They can then bail you out and pay for the damage afterwards.
