It's paid for by sponsorship. It just show the ignorance of those who post on here without getting their facts straight. Taxpayers DO NOT foot the bill for the fireworks displays! You're not paying for it. If you don't like the display? Don't attend them. More room for others who won't gripe and will enjoy them.

I completely agree that the Suspension Bridge should be protected. However, if people were disappointed with the display, they have a right to voice their opinion. Because it was "free" does not mean people have to love it if it was below par this year. I've heard conflicting info, do our tax dollars pay for the display, or is it sponsorship?

If the Suspension bridge is too flimsy to allow Fireworks, is it safe to handle vehicles??

I was in the OV for the 4th and got to see the show. I thought it was good but I had not seen a previous year when they did the Suspension bridge waterfall.

The only problem I saw was the crappy HUMID weather with zero breeze. By the end of the show you could hardly see the fireworks from Heritage Port because of the stagnant smoke from prior explosions!!!

uglyassmy - I agree 100%. People around here could be handed a treasure chest full of pure gold, silver and diamonds and someone would find fault in every bit of it. You can't please anyone in this town. I would like to see justmytake's bill for the fireworks too. How would you break that down in your taxes exactly? Is there a "fourth of July tax" that we missed? I don't see how that works. I don't accept that as a reason to gripe. Prove to me that you were personally responsible for funding the fireworks then you may continue to complain. Otherwise, why is it an issue?

People tend to take things like the beautiful suspension bridge for granted. Sometimes steps have to be taken beyond popular opinion.

These fireworks are not "free" they were paid for by our tax dollars. So anyone who pays taxes should feel free to express an opinion. Would it be better to say nothing and continue to be disappointed??
