Republicans in name only just like Ms Storch. These comments are unbelievable. If Ferns were a Republican, he shouldn't be supported. His morals are reprehensible which is also the perfect description of many members of the committee.

Well he is a Republican, hard drinker, business owner, colossal phony, yep he does a good job at that. The problem is that really good candidates tend not to run anymore, not needing the hassle. The successful people who could give good service in Charleston, don't have the*****for attention, they are already successful. In WV we have the carnival of needing to run as a Democrat so the morons who vote for a party that long ago abandoned them will still mindlessly vote for them. In reality nearly all Dem officials would come out of the closet and run as Republicans. WV still votes Dem local and state, but no longer for national candidates. Send a Dem to DC and they will never remember your name. We only require and get national representation from Republicans and in WV that is a historic move. Locally, you just have to pretend you are a Democrat so the Dumocrat labor types will vote for you. We should admire the Ohio County GOP for recognizing that.

Two members of the exec cmte decide to engage in the self-destructive circular firing squad for which the GOP is famous. How counterproductive for them to run to the press with their complaints, when they should be working together to gain a majority in the state legislature (as their chairman said).

If I were a Republic,an, living in Ohio County, which I once was, I would immediately withdraw from the Republican Party, register as an independent, and would never support any function or person prosposed by the Ohio County Executive Committee under any circumstances. The State Republican Party should also be petitioned to expel this Executive Committee.

Well, this is just an isolated incident...the people usually elect responsible, intelligent people into office.

Being a member of the Wood County Executive Committee has taught me a number of things, but the one that sticks out in my mind is that the committee's total purpose for existence is to elect Republicans. The problem is that this "reason for being" has become a mindless act that requires nothing of a candidate except that he have an R behind his name. There is no consideration given to whether or not the candidate's positions on the issues that affect all of us are in line with the state platform and the things that the Party CLAIMS to support. Unfortunately, most candidates that are supported in a meaningful way (meaning with $$$$) are the ones that "toe the line" in going along with what those in power want (whether in Washington or Charleston). Until the Republican Party requires a litmus test similar to what has been successfully used by the Democrats to create some purity in the ranks, we are lost. I, for one, find it totally disappointing and regrettable.
