This is one way to get rid of the bad elements in that area. Trouble is- they just spread out. Oh Wel with the lights the dealers can see what they are doing.

I am not sure which kids they are talking about as there are not many in that part of town anymore and fewer as they tear down homes to "revitalize" the area. Wonder why South Wheeling didn't get such a field since there are many, many more kids and families in that neighborhood? East Wheeling is about the last place, next to Kandahar, that I would want to let a kid go to "recreate". I was open minded about this being some scheme to build a practice field for Central but now that we see these donations I am less so. So far the philantrophy is from some wealthy Catholic families and law firms which will get a tax break for donating money, and they get to pretend that its helping all kids. Once the field is finished and available, lets see what it really becomes. While marksmanship is a form of recreation, I am not sure drive by shootings are true sports.

Wheeling depends on donations and it is wonderful anytime someone steps up to contribute to the better good of our community! Thank you Schenks!

That said, I tend to agree that the location is not where there are many kids today. South Wheeling probably would have been better.
