The all your eggs in one basket system!!!

WHAT A JOKE!!!

Every time there's a storm, 911 circuits are the first to fail!!

A system that cost FAR more than LOCAL dispatch that worked for DECADES and the entire county goes dead at the same time!!

AMAZING STUPIDITY!!!

The County collects $1.1 million in 911 fees, reimburses the city of Wheeling $500,000 and spends the rest ($600,000 per year) on equipment?

What equipment are they buying? $600,000 per year could easily buy 9 new H&K 9mm pistols for each deputy, each year.

It could buy between 6 and 7 fully loaded police cruisers or SUVs.

It could buy the latest, greatest body armor several times over.

Tell us, then, where is this $600,000 really going?

What "equipment" has been purchased with this money?

As I recall, the city a few years back got all puffed up when either the city or the county was installing new equipment and there was extensive discussion on the necessity for the equipment and the fact the equipment was not compatible with what was already installed. The particulars are vague but I do remember that the county wanted to take over the system. The system should be under county control.

"The cost to provide benefits also would increase, as Ohio County pays 100 percent of its employees' health insurance costs."
