This memorial to the shortsightedness of Mayor Andrew McKenzie was presented as being funded totally, I repeat totally, by private donations but yet $607,619.00 of CDBG funds is going into the project. Of course the mayor and the outlandishly overpaid city manager do not count GDBG funds as taxpayers’ hard earned money that could be used for something useful in Wheeling, rather view it as their personal daily bread sent mystically from the source of all that is righteous and good, Washington, Dc. What the boys are telling us is that the city now has $2,392,381.00 in pledged funds for the project, with $1,377,381.00 on hand, and the balance of $1,015,000.00 pledged, but to be received on an agreed to schedule. Prove it boys!

Appears to me that about all this city thinks about is pleasing the "Special Interest Groups" by building athlletic fields, play grounds & dog parks. Other tax payers wants & needs don't count.
