Legalized gambling isn't as invigorating as splitting 50 bucks under the table with the bartender. The thrill is gone.

With the high tax rates from the Fed and some states like CA and NY, a "million" dollar lottery would give you less than $400,000.

Nice but not life changing.

Interesting that players are so focussed on the mega jackpots. How would winning 100+ million change your life anymore than 10 million - or 5 million? Unless you simply gave it away most could live "high on the hawg" the rest of your life. With some conservative investments you could have a respectable income that would still be available to your heirs after your passing.

It’s important for lottery players to keep playing every day, even when the jackpots are small. Those lottery dollars spent on small jackpots are what drive the jackpots higher and higher until eventually someone else wins the big bucks.

Plus the Government needs your lottery dollar contributions every day to fund important Government programs like Solyndra bankruptcies and executive bonuses and Cash for Clunkers. So play, play, play, lottery supporters. You are what makes America great!
