acousticportal's comments are tasteless, unfounded, and obviously from someone of limited intelligence and class. He/she obviously have no idea of Dr. Van Pelts longtime dedication to his profession. If portal had ever been in or around a local hospital during the past 25 years or so they would have seen Dr. Van Pelt visiting his patients who were hospitalized and doing so prior to and after his daily office hours along with weekends and on his OWN TIME. He was not only an excellent doctor but also a caring and understanding physician with diagnostic abilities second to no other primary care physician in our area. Perhaps he would take on portal as his last patient and cure them of their "sickness".

Dr. Van Pelt was a wonderful caring physician who will be very difficult to replace. Some of the people who post on here are tasteless and classless.

Come on someone, born in 1942 and "served in the Korean war". Served in Korea, yes; served during the war, no.

Scarey part of this story to me was fact that Wheeling Hospital purchased his practice. Wheeling Hospital now owns the Wheeling Clinic, old St Clairsville clinic, clinic in Wellsburg, etc., freedom of choice when it comes to a hospital is just about gone in this valley.

Many doctors over age 50 are considering retirement, due to the irrational and inappropriate demands of Obamacare. Happy retirement, Dr. and Mrs. Van Pelt!
