WV comes up very short in this area. Even in this article it states "safeguard others from those who become violently unbalanced". We stereotype mental illness as violent, which most would hurt themselves before someone else. The police dept. needs training with this. Just because a person is depressed does not mean they are a threat. Public awareness is crucial in making changes. I know of insurance companies ignoring the parity act and refusing treatment, causing further harm. You are right, start with politicians.
