mkhunt--look through the obituaries. Each day, memorial funds and gifting opportunities are established as a way for loved ones and friends to honor the deceased. It's a common practice, and in many ways, it is a sign of a community's need to come together and honor a special person who is gone.

We are a hardened society and as such we need someone to write this kind of dribble to temporarily ease our conscience. I doubt the victim was as innoncent as suggested, and I doubt the perpetrator is as villainous as portrayed. What happened is life; we are,after all, only thinking upright animals, many of us with uncontrollable animal instinct.

This young man was walking away and was halfway to the WJU campus when he was jumped and murdered.

We live in a violent country full of violent people. The lesson to be learned from this awful episode is to keep your mouth shut, your eyes forward and your hands to yourself. Otherwise, you might be in the same shape as this poor young man. While your pride and manhood may be bruised, your chances of keeping your precious life will be enhanced. You are not a coward for walking/running away from an argument. Just smart.
