rover1958. Are you a complete idiot or what? The Angel was a monument not a piece of jewelry that was just put next to Patricia's grave side. Don't leave it unguarded in public places???? Really???? How about this one. DON'T STEAL FROM THE CEMETERY. If it happens to you or your loved ones maybe you will understand this 94 year old women is feeling. Oh, did I happen to mention she is my AUNT? Maybe you took it or know who did since you have so much to say in a negative way. FYI. No sign posted about not being responsible for theft. Maybe decent people just assume idiots will leave the deceased alone! If you have nothing nice to say to my Aunt then don't saying anything at all.

@Ragnar - that's a very Islamic form of punishment. You're not part of an Al Qaeda sleeper cell are you?

That's what they do: over-react. And that's what's going to destroy them sooner or later.

Just about every cemetery that I've been in has a notice posted that they are not responsible for stolen items. How could they be? Unless they keep the gates locked (not feasible)or hire a roving security staff (at what cost)thefts from cemeteries will continue. It's very common and just like anywhere else these days. If you don't want your valuable property stolen, don't leave it in unguarded, public areas. Yes, it was a shame that the statue was stolen. But the safe bet anymore is "don't be conspicuous" and if you must be, make sure you have plenty of security around you. Otherwise it's not a matter of 'if' but 'when'.

What a horrible thing to happen to this poor old Mother!

The missing angel was likely seen by someone who visits a NEARBY grave....it became coveted by a person who was just sure the parents were long dead. Well, old Mom needs that angel back. This NR story should be posted by the child's grave and hopefully the responsible party will see it and do the right thing! Hope so.

@ MK, there are 3 photos for this article on the N-R website. One of them is a pretty clear photo of the angel statue.

AGAIN this ALL goes back to LOUSY parents!

Trail cams are a cheap and effective solution for capturing these fools

Perhaps one WAS in this cemetery and the vandals were photographed

One could only hope

Ragnar, agree with you wholeheartedly only I'd also have their eyes removed; this way they could no longer look at someone's property with lust.

Whoever stole this wanted it for their own. They looked at the death date of 1943 and figured the parents were deceased or too old to visit. It is either at someone's home or it is for sale somewhere. It still is totally wrong.

If and when they find the scum who stole this angel, they should be severely beaten and have both hand chopped off.

What kind of lowlife steals from a CEMETERY?!!

Just another example of the d r u g addict, welfare loving, piece of ****e mentality that pervades the Ohio Valley.

It's no wonder employers don't want to move here and people who can afford to move are doing so.

Stealing from a CEMETERY??!!!! SCUM!!!!
