No Hard Evidence on Syria

White House: ‘Common-sense test’ all that’s needed to take action

September 9, 2013

WASHINGTON (AP) — The White House asserted Sunday that a “common-sense test” dictates the Syrian government is responsible for a chemical weapons attack that President Barack Obama says demands a U.S....

The devil you know is better than the one you do not. The rebel government- who would be helped by US actions- may be far worse than the current one(eg Muslim extremists.)

Russia and China oppose the strike as does Iran. Syria seems to be the "red line" in mid east power division.

The question remains, do you want to trust Obama in any matter, whether it is worthy or not? The answer is "no". The man is devoid of any leadership skills. He has been, is, and will be a failure in all respects.

Obama's arguments are flaccid.

He needs a big dose of extra strength Lieagra to firm up his sales pitch.

Note: discontinue use if lies last for more than 4 hours.

The seems to be plenty of dispute on Obama's claims:

The Guardian "President Bashar al-Assad did not personally order last month's chemical weapons attack near Damascus that has triggered calls for US military intervention, and blocked numerous requests from his military commanders to use chemical weapons against regime opponents in recent months, a German newspaper has reported , citing unidentified, high-level national security sources.

The intelligence findings were based on phone calls intercepted by a German surveillance ship operated by the BND, the German intelligence service, and deployed off the Syrian coast, Bild am Sonntag said. The intercepted communications suggested Assad, who is accused of war crimes by the west, including foreign secretary William Hague, was not himself involved in last month's attack or in other instances when government forces have allegedly used chemical weapons."

I believe the German report may be credible because Assad troops have been WINNING in Syria recently. No need to USE chemical weapons and bring the wrath of the world down on him.

Russia and China say NO, and they are not exactly our BFF's, but Obama looks like he is WAY out on a limb on this one.

At the end of the day, it is a CIVIL WAR with NO USA Interests at risk.

Let them KILL themselves, they are just Muslims, right???

it takes no research skills at all to find Obama's comments on Syria over the past year, or that he has been stockpiling men and materials to invade Syria for over a year. About 2 months ago the Army Chief was before Congress saying that it might be necessary to invade Syria WITH boots on the ground. He is an Obama appointee. Bush was a war criminal to the left because he went into Iraq and Saddam did not pose a direct threat to the US. And Saddam DID gas the Kurds killing 100K. Not enough then. Obama is acting as though this is a new thing and we must respond based on this..but he has been playing ball with the Brotherood for several yrs, and that includes AlQuida. How does that work? For people who are sure they are so smart, liberals surely are easily led into war and killing people. We killed 35K in Libya. Why was that? Please libs stop killing people, no more war we have had enough of the Obama War Era. If Bush was evil, Obama is beyond evil. Can U say Gulf of Tonkin?

1) Two Senate Democrats are circulating an alternative resolution on military intervention in Syria that would give President Bashar Assad’s regime a 45-day window to avoid a strike if it signs a chemical weapons ban.

Sens. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) and Heidi Heitkamp (D-N.D.) drafted the resolution after the Foreign Relations Committee earlier this week approved a separate proposal on a narrow vote, according to reports.

2) Russia To Push Syria To Put Chemical Weapons Under International Control MOSCOW — In a surprise move, Russia promised Monday to push its ally Syria to place its chemical weapons under international control and then dismantle them quickly to avert U.S. strikes.

The announcement by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov came a few hours after U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry said that Syrian President Bashar Assad could resolve the crisis surrounding the alleged use of chemical weapons by his forces by surrendering control of "every single bit" of his a

MOSCOW, Sept 9 (Reuters) - Syria welcomes a Russian proposal to place the nation's chemical weapons under international control, Syrian Foreign Minister Walid al-Moualem said on Monday after talks in Moscow, praising the Kremlin for seeking to "prevent American aggression".

In a London news conference this morning, Secretary of State John Kerry responded to a question about whether Assad could do anything to avoid war by saying "he could turn over every single bit of his chemical weapons to the international community in the next week. Turn it over, all of it, without delay and allow a full and total accounting." Kerry delivered the statement almost dismissively and quickly said Assad had no intention of giving up "weapons he denies using." The State Department was forced to clarify the remarks, calling them "rhetorical" and making clear its desire to strike could be tempered by a Syrian offer. Has Kerry's 'rhetorical remark' and it's quick backtracking revealed the Administrations real motive in Syria? I've long suspected that this was not about WMD, but regime change instead.

"We're not going to war. We will not have people at risk in that way," Kerry told a news conference in London after talks with British Foreign Secretary William Hague. Kerry offered assurances that any US action would be "a very limited, very targeted, very short-term effort that degrades his capacity to deliver chemical weapons without assuming responsibility for Syria's civil war." "That is exactly what we're talking about doing -- unbelievably small, limited kind of effort," he said in London.

While the evidence is looking a bit shaky, Putin may end up give Obama an out. Assad must be greatly relieved!! After all he's now facing "an unbelievably small, limited kind of effort.” (John Kerry) Most likely followed by a strongly worded letter!

I'm not sure how much I'd trust Russia taking Syria's chemical weapons, but it will give Obama some breathing room. His spin factory (aka speech writers) must be in a much better frame of mind this afternoon.

So, if Syria gives up all of its chemical weapons, it is proof positive, we need to round up all the right wing haters who instead of supporting America and the President, sided with Iran, China and Russia, while the President once again proves, he doesn't sweat the small stuff, disguised as right wing extremist America haters. Pathetic people.
