Study: Wind Farms Have Killed 67 Eagles in Five Years

Wind energy industry says other causes of eagle deaths much higher

September 12, 2013

WASHINGTON (AP) — Wind energy facilities have killed at least 67 golden and bald eagles in the last five years, but the figure could be much higher, according to a new scientific study by government......

The propeller style wind turbine is a killer in every habitat. Every flying species that shares this same habitat will be killed. It is no different than the nerve gas that was used in Syria. This nerve gas is lethal any where it is used and it is no different with these turbines. They slaughter birds and bats no matter where they are located. If not stopped, the wind industry with only "voluntary regulations" will continue to hide their ongoing genocide and will cause the extinction of species. In the meantime the FWS service should stop giving and revoke all "take permits" because of the fraudulent way this industry operates. Any permits given for just 1 endangered species or one eagle will result in the death of many because this industry hides over 90% of their mortality.

Everybody should be concerned about how a bogus article was published in Raptor Research and then was carried across the country by AP and mainstream media outlets for propaganda purposes. Over 85 eagles a year die at California Wind farms and there are wind farms that are even bigger killers of birds and bats than Altamont. We would know all about them if the FWS and conservation groups were not covering for this fraudulent industry. Hundreds if not thousands of of eagles have perished in Texas over the years but no one has heard a word because of FWS "Voluntary Regulations" and the locked gates of wind farms on private land. Over the years several thousand eagles have died at Altamont and the industry expects the idiots of the world to believe this is an aberration.

The latest news story about 85 eagles killed at wind farms does not even begin to discuss the magnitude of the turbine eagle kill problem or the exploding numbers of bald eagles that will be killed in the years ahead. At Altamont 126 dead eagles were picked up between 2005 and 2010 from turbine searches 36 days apart. The total estimated number killed is between 3-10 times that many because they never find them all. The industry would be happy as can be if the ignorant public would believe that about 85 eagles had died in the last 5 years, as the article suggests. Over 85 eagles a year die at California Wind farms the 5 year total for the US is probably over 1000. And that was the entire point of the article, to deceive. There is also something else that every reader must consider...............Why was information from such a poorly researched article published carried by AP and mainstream media outlets?

Wrath; "YOUR GLOBAL MARKET assertion is BUUUSHEET! PROVE OTHERWISE!!" Oh, someday, I will prove Global Marketing! It is naive to think that Global O & G companies should sell to the US at a lower price than what they can get on the Global Market...

Who wouldn't want that?? Except for the profit making O & G companies.. They need the highest profit to please their stockholders...

We all are just a pawn in the big money Global corporations... They have Offices & Markets in every corner of our world...

Icrecream you cretin fracturing the norm in oil and gas exploration now, you driving in your car and heating your house BECAUSE of it, friggen idiot.

STop making up your fantasyland facts.

Canadian shale oil sells for as much as $40 a barrel LESS than Saudi cweet crude oil in the USA.

YOUR GLOBAL MARKET assertion is BUUUSHEET! PROVE OTHERWISE!!

Oil from the ground in Saudi Arabia costs about $3 a barrel.

Shale oil is about $18 a barrel.

Deep Sea Oil Platforms aobut $25-30 a barrel.

Your assertion that shale oil and gas are not cost effective is BUUUSHEET! Prove otherwise.

Stop making up LIE-FACTS to prove your point, your credibility here is a friggen ZERO.

Investors--what don't you understand??? Investors take the fall! Since SOLYNDRA! People are investing in Wind and Solar Energy.....

You misunderstood my question! I was referring to when Standard Oil began...

"How long do you think, it took Oil companies to become profitable???"

I think it was decades to find ways to use the oil... Then they needed autos and roads and oil refineries and gas pumps... Takes time for a new industry to take off and become profitable... Solar and Wind Energy are just at the beginning--as Oil was 110 years ago in PA...

The End !

Icecreamed having an arugment with you like arguing with a little 2 year old because you live in a fantasy world of Icecream facts.

Oil companies ARE NOT SUBSIDIZED, IDIOT!

They get TAX CREDITS which are NOT THE SAME.

A subsidy is a direct payments REGARDLESS of INCOME. A subsidy of $500,000 goes directly into the pocket of the company.

A TAX CREDIT is just a write off AGAINST taxes owed. If YOU are NOT PROFITABLE, you get SH****T!!!

And NONE of the green disasters are profitable which is WHY they give them tax credits, it would not do them any good!!

daWraith; Are you this dense on purpose??

Everything you say about Wind& Solar is true for the Oil industry...

Wind farms exist because they are subsidized at all levels by the US government... Not true!

Take away the subsidies from Big Oil! Watch them cry...

The truth is, Wind, Solar and Big Oil are on the NY stock Exchange... Private investors are fueling the old and new Technology! Wise up and invest everywhere...

Wind turbines have these problems, not nearly as bad as oil rigs blowing up an killing men and fouling the waters with billions of lost oil to kill all living things in the ocean...

Nothing with wind turbines could compare with an oil tragedy...

Lastly-- R&D in these new technologies are job growth--more than you can say for laborers on the Keystone Pipeline... Once built--jobs gone--is that not FAIL !

Once a drilling pad for fracking is built, jobs are gone--only a few needed to maintain...

"Despite all that has been written about wind power, a vitally important issue has barely been mentioned. When turbines fail, blades may fall to the ground or send fragments that land up to a mile away. Turbines often catch fire, and when they do they often send flaming shards into fields and forests.

Much has been said about the short-term jobs created in preparing turbine sites, but almost nothing about job losses from turbine-caused fires in our paper mills, sawmills and other forest-dependent industries...."

Do yourself a favor, Imcreamed and Google "wind turbine FIRES" and take a look at these pieces of crap on fire.

They ALL have a design defect in that the transmissions can NOT support the huge weight loads from the turbines blades. The transmissions fail, catch on fire, then set the ground and forests on fire AROUND THEM.

Imcreamed, it is hilarious that wind farms only exist because they are subsidized at all levels by the US government from production through installation and they STILL don't come close to break even.

Yet conventional energy companies like Exxon paid more than $40 BILLION yes $40 BILLION in TAXES in ONE FRIGGEN YEAR to the US government.

The government STEALS this money from business and individuals and GIVES it to the Green Energy industry which just puts it in investors pockets while they file chapter 11 and walk away from PAYING IT BACK.

Take away the subsidy and Green would disappear tomorrow in the USA because it makes no economic sense.
