The fund will provide loans or loan guarantees to states and municipalities to finance transportation, energy, communications, water, and education infrastructure projects"

It's worth a look!!

Instead of the usual tax & spend approach to infrastructure there is a bi-partisan bill in the house that shows promise. The Partnership to Build America Act (H.R. 2084)could be a nice solution. A letter from the ASCE states "ASCE supports passage of the Partnership to Build America Act (H.R. 2084), legislation which would finance the rebuilding of our country's infrastructure through the use of innovative financing paired with public-private partnerships. ASCE’s 2013 Report Card for America’s Infrastructure graded the nation’s infrastructure a D+, citing underinvestment and deferred maintenance as a key contributor to the causes of poor grades. As the nation’s infrastructure continues to age the cost of repairs will continue to increase. ASCE strongly supports identifying creative solutions to fund infrastructure improvement. Key Points ? The Partnership to Build America Act creates a $50 billion dollar infrastructure fund that can be leveraged to $750 billion.

I would support massive expenditures on our infrastructure if the following conditions are met:

1) The projects are financed by bonds, not added to or guaranteed by, the national debt.

2) No illegal immigrants are hired.

3) 100% made in America materials are used.

4) Jobs are awarded by competitive bidding and do not require union/prevailing wage positions.

5) All contractors must adhere to basic agreed upon standards.

6) All projects will be completed properly, not half-assed so that the state road people have guaranteed lifetime employment.

BTW, it was not the GOP that held up this spending. The fact is, there is no money to spend.

Try recovery(dot) gov and you will see the "jobs" created for the 1.7 billion in WV stimulus spending, over 3 million per job! Great idea from the goberment.....Could have paid 40 people $75,000 and saved all that paper-work.....

Wheeling's Fort Henry bridge is the most under designed and least safe interstate bridge in the United States. Notwithstanding is it's rapidly deteriorating condition.

Barry Bankrupter simply couldn’t find any bridges to fix. As Barry put it to his jobless Jobs Council, “Shovel-ready was not as ... uh [laughs] ... shovel-ready as we expected.”

Apparently he couldn’t find any infrastructure to repair in Martha’s Vineyard or on the golf course. Where else did you expect him to look? Detroit? LOL

Sorry no money for America, Obama has spent $20 billion dollars in the last six months on his Islamic dreams in the Middle East. And that does not include the huge invasion force that he has been building up there for the past year. What? Did you think that the chemical weapon thing was a big deal? It was just the Gulf of Tonkin resolution for Obama so that he could commit US troops to another war. In fact, a Navy aviation officer was reprimanded for saying that the only reason that we cannot have the 200,000 troops committed to Afghanistan and Iraq home is that Obama needs to keep them in the region for his invasion of Syria and who knows which one is next. Obama has no money for infrastructure or social services, he is involved in fulfilling his life long dream of beng a Muslim hero. How? He takes secular govs (meaning not Islamic) in the ME and helps the Muslim Brotherhood topple the govs, with US military help.

Very Good dyingov.

Doopie, over $1 BILLION in Stimulus (counting interest) and you Dumbass Demorats couldn't find any shovel ready projects like BRIDGES???

"Bridges" can't vote for Opie.

Union workers like public sector and teachers DO. Hence virtually ALL of the money went to salaries to keep these deadbeats on the payroll for the 2010 election.

NOW they get thrown under the bus and the money is all GONE.

goosy, WV received 1.8 billion in stimulus in 2009, still trying to figure out how to spend it....

BTW, 1.2 billion was "given" to state agencies for budget spending! Federal hand outs were given to state and locals so the peeps would be fooled! Borrowed money (feds borrow money) was sent to state and locals (most are required to have a balanced budget) to keep the sheeple from knowing just how bad the recession (depression) really was.....

America is ignoring its crumbling infrastructure for political reasons. Pouring money into infrastructure would create millions of jobs and that might make Obama look good. Congress would rather all of America infrastructure to crumble and potentially cause death rather than help the economy.

If our federal government spent its money on infrastructure like it is suppose to instead of welfare and studies of how much gas cows pass this would never happen.
