Good editorial Mike, I made that point many times here.

Hilarious that some of the survivors said that he was on the 4th floor of an adjacent building trying to shoot into the cafeteria and "He was a really poor shot!"

NO! A shotgun does not have a LONG RANGE, it is close range weapon, DUH!

Lucky for them that most were killed at close range, when he went to the roof, he had problems.

Yeah he also had a handgun but that is not a rifle either.

Obama is pimping more gun control Sunday at a church in DC.

What victims families should ask: WHY the }{ell is the security at our MILITARY BASES so POOR????

This is not a friggen MALL, it is a M_I_L_I_T_A_R_Y Base!!!! The last big terrorist attack was FOOT HOOD, dummies.

What did we LEARN from Foot Hood??? Tones of soldiers with NO WEAPONS, DUH!

Mr. Myer you either haven't been following the story or you left out the facts on purpose. You say he didn't chose an AR-15, no actually that may have been his first choice. He tried out an AR-15 but was unable to purchase it or a handgun with an out of state ID. So he purchased the shotgun instead. If he would have been able to purchase an AR-15 the carnage may have been far worse. Then there is the Wayne LaPiere line the only thing that stops a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun. Well it just happens he shot a good guy with a gun, that is how he obtained the handgun. I agree he shouldn't have been able to purchase any gun since he had mental problems. The NRA has consistantly opposed any measure that would have prevented him from doing so. Also he could have just went to a gun show and picked up an AR-15 from any private party that was selling.

duh wuss, There was a gate he had to go thru with armed guards and also there were armed security people in the complex. As a matter of fact he obtained his handgun from one those guards that he shot. DC has tons of police and they responded within seconds, so it is not like nobody was armed. Oh GWB thightened restrictions on guns at military instalations back in 1992 so you can't blame Obama for that either.

Ohiodum BFD he got past the gate with an Access card.

But when he was SHOOTING, why was there no one to challenge him until the Washington DC POLICE arrived???

POLICE have to arrive and defend a MILIATARY BASE!!

EFFFING PATHETIC! Especially after Ft. Hood, the largest army base in the USA.

Yeah, I know you can't have EVERYBODY wandering around with a gun at military base but virtually all military personnel have had training, let them pack heat for ****sake!

One guy with his own gun may have been able to drop this POS instead of watching and hiding from the slaughter until Police arrive.

Likewise, a Gallup poll released Friday found that support for stricter gun laws has fallen from a high of 58 percent after the Newtown shooting to 49 percent now.

Both the Gallup poll and the HuffPost/YouGov poll were conducted Sept. 17 and 18, after the Monday deaths of 13 people in the shooting at Navy Yard in Washington, D.C.

Gun Control: FAIL!

Guns don't kill people. It's those little pointy things that come out of them that kill people.

Ohiodem he DID NOT try to by an AR-15. This was also misinformation. The only weapon he tried to purchase was the shotgun. Do some research. The NY Times actually retracted the statement about attempting to purchase an AR. He took Jo Biden's advice and bought a shotgun.

Ohiodem “He tried out an AR-15 but was unable to purchase it or a handgun with an out of state ID. So he purchased the shotgun instead.”

Dem, you’re parroting a left-wing media lie. As justmytake pointed out, in fact, Alexis COULD have purchased an AR-15. Your lying liberal media first reported Alexis USED an AR-15. Then when caught in their first lie, they made up another lie that a non-existent anti-gun law stopped Alexis from buying an AR-15. Now that their second lie is exposed, the left-wing media stooges are quietly removing the tweets and covering their tracks.

Typical Democrits. When the truth doesn’t fit the narrative, make up lies. When the lies fall apart, hide the evidence. Disgusting Dems.

truth4dunce, and do those little pointy things fire themselves.

Ban Automobiles, "they" kill 43,000 people a year far more than guns.

Ban DOCTORS! Medical malpractice kills more than automobiles, guns, terrorist attacks, suicides, COMBINED!!!!

My first thought was: "this has to be the stupidest editorial I have ever read..." When I saw daWmoron agreed with the editor, I knew it was.

Vice President Joe “Two Blasts” Biden, in a February 2013 Field and Stream interview, on the proper use of a shotgun: “Well, you know, my shotgun will do better for you than your AR-15, because you want to keep someone away from your house, just fire the shotgun through the door.”

Vice President Joe “Two Blasts” Biden, in a February 2013 Facebook chat, on the proper use of a shotgun: "I said, 'Jill, if there's ever a problem, just walk out on the balcony here, walk out and put that double-barrel shotgun and fire two blasts outside the house.'"

Vice President Joe “Two Blasts” Biden, in a February 2013 Facebook chat, on the best weapon to buy: "You don't need an AR-15—it's harder to aim, it's harder to use, and in fact you don't need 30 rounds to protect yourself. Buy a shotgun! Buy a shotgun!"

Anyone wonder why Joe “Two Blasts” Biden hasn’t been heard from lately? Barry Ogungrabber must cringe every time Joe "Two Blasts" steps in front of the microphone

@ohiodem: Slick Willie was the one who banned weapons on military institutions, not Bush. Congratulations on your proud representation of the low information voter.
