It may have been known as “the gay 90s,” but the last decade of the 19th century was far from carefree for many Americans....

Wheeling was very different in Mr. Ogden's day. It was a place of growth and opportunity. During my great grand fathers residence-1848 to 1908- the City grew 15 fold. Wheeling has now regressed to about 1870 levels. Who has been in charge? Who has influence City policy? Where has the NR been in all of this decline? Where is it now? Tens of millions in Byrd job development money has been squandered with negative results. Where is the NR?

Another self-aggrandizing load of tripe brought to you by the folks in Wonderland. Get a subscription to the NYT or Washington Post and read a real newspaper. Save the NR for your dead fish.

It'd be interesting to find a journalism student at Wheeling Park or one of the local colleges who'd be interested in doing a study as part of their coursework, where they'd go back through the past few years of News Register "reporting" and calculate the amount of positive vs. negative stories that have been written about the republicans vs. democrats. I think we all know what the outcome would be, but it'd be interesting to see the hard numbers on paper.

Those jabs will stop only when a Republican is in office. Ogden Corp. will NEVER have the best interests of readers who lean left.

"Our editorial pages continue to reject unthinking allegiance to either Democrat or Republican parties or politicians".

Just because you print it, doesn't make it true. There is an allegiance to right wing extremist politics, how in the world can you deny that.

The incessant jabs taken at this President are not simply what is in the best interest of the community.
