It IS amusing how many self-proclaimed “independents” go on to express their disdain for my so-called carbon footprint and their desire to confiscate and redistribute my wages to others they feel are more deserving of the fruits of my labor. Most independents are just liberals who aren’t quite intelligent enough to be conservatives but are unwilling to admit they’re liberals because they think they’re above the smarmy liberal ideology they've embraced.

Troll, strange isn't it.

Everyone who supports Obama believes in Global Warming and claims their insurance premiums have gone DOWN or remained the same.

The other 99% of us have SEEN our premiums skyrocket and think AGW is con job to redistribute the wealth hiding behind junk science.

They all are DirtyHairyPelosi puppets yet claim to be independent thinkers.

Strange, isn't it???

Troll, to me affiliation with either the Republican Party or the Democratic Party not a form of religion and it does not automatically differentiate a hard line between "good" and "evil". Both are flawed and actually share many traits. There are also individual members of either party who are exceptional and work for what they sincerely believe are good causes.

One of best politicians I had the pleasure of knowing was Jay Hammond, Governor of Alaska during the late 1970s and early 80s. Jay worked to set up the Alaska Permanent Dividend Fund and skillfully fought for the best interests of his state. He worked well with both Republicans and Democrats to accomplish his goals. He was at heart a conservationist and supported the establishment of national parks in Alaska. Jay was also a Republican.

After he retired from politics I sometimes stopped by to visit with him and his wife at his homestead on Lake Clark in the Alaska Range. He was a quietly inspiring

Wheeldog, the Democrit "true believer," describes his Democrit Party core philosophy and then claims that's MY philosophy, too.

By risking a Government shutdown, the Tea Party isn't winning popularity contests right now, but they're making progress on revealing to the public what a nightmare Obamacare will be, and why annual TRILLION dollar deficits will be disasterous for America. You claim Cruz is bucking his party and risking a loss of personal political power, at the same time you claim Cruz is just trying to acquire political power. You can't have it both ways and not look ridiculous, dog.

Wheeldog, if the objectives you listed were MY party's "overriding objectives" I'd be a Democrit. LOL

"Republicans don't put reelection as the number one consideration for everything they do," Troll.

Troll, you are apparently a True Believer. All political organizations have two overriding objectives; 1. Get elected. 2. Get reelected. Both are absolutely crucial to acquiring power and prestige, and that is what they all want. Politicians may have a general philosophy insofar as what they hope to accomplish, but nothing can be done unless they are able to get and hold political office. Politicians on both sides of the aisle have an electorate base they cater to, but if that base shifts its position on a given issue - the politician will follow or be left in the dust. Right now the Tea Party wing of the Republican Party is playing the same game with they strongly conservative base that elected them. Ultimately, they hope to gain control of the larger agenda of the Republican power structure.

You have to ask yourself why would the GOP be so opposed to a law that when enacted will be so bad that it would insure their total victories in both House and the Senate in 2014 as well ensure a victory in the Whitehouse in 2016. The GOP has to be quite sure that the exact opposite is true which is why we are getting the sky is falling routine.

@Duhiwonderwhy:Who are you trying to BS. Mr.Blowhard. I bet there is enough hot air coming from you to heat the U.S, and i really is hot air. If you think level headed Repubs are tired of it, what do you thing about what the democraps think about it.Well here it goes loose lips: I AM a "REGISTERED" democrat, I "NEVER" voted for him either time, and further more I cannot stand what he is doing to the citizens of the U.S. Did you read Obama Care and do you like it? I didn't read it and I can stand it. And further more you idiot, the democraps want to shut the goberment down, not the Repubs. They want to fund the goberment except Obozo's stinking health plan. Blame it on the GOP. They walk and talk and breath our air, and you do also wasting it from good people.Maybe you know by now. I don't like you, wonderwhy? Hope I didn't infringe on that as I believe it is your trademark. lol

Wheezerdawg, don't be an idiot. You don't put out a fire by throwing more gasoline on it.

You don't cure drug abuse by prescribing more drugs.

You don't current obesity by bing eating.

The government beast is a ravenous money monster consuming everything in its path.

Cut off the funding the beast will forced onto a diet.

I completely agree. It is truly a sad situation, but shutting down the government is not the answer. It will only exacerbate an already dire situation. I have no particular love of any of the so-called political leaders in Washington and refuse to belong to either party. I worked on legislation in D.C. quite a few years ago, and decided that it was like watching sausage being made. Regardless, it cannot be solved with a blunt ax approach. That is simplistic thinking carried to the extreme. Trying to cut funding for the newly passed health care law by shutting the doors of government is an act of stupidity and childish resentment for not getting what the Tea Party advocates wanted through the established legislative process.

Your GOVERNMENT OUTSOURCES jobs to implement Obamacare!!!!!

"Computerworld - Some state governments are willing to hire offshore IT service providers to work on healthcare IT projects under controversial contracts that don't bar use of temporary foreign labor, or workers on H-1B visas.

Two multimillion-dollar government healthcare IT projects, one in Illinois and the other in the District of Columbia, illustrate what's going on.

In Illinois, Cognizant was awarded a $74.1 million contract in June to upgrade the state's Medicaid systems to meet the requirements of the Affordable Care Act (ACA), also known as Obamacare.

In January, the District of Columbia awarded Infosys a $49.5 million contract to develop a health benefit exchange and replace its Medicaid and eligibility systems."

BBBWHAHAHAHA! Waaaaah! Outsourcing to India and China!!! Evil Corporations oops I mean STATES GOVERNMENTS!!!!

Wheezerdawg, how can anybody in their right mind think $17 TRILLION is an acceptable level of debt ??

In 2008 the nonpartisan CBO was predicting a $63 BILLION SURPLUS in the budget.

What Happened?

Barack Hussein Obama and the Social Welfare Experiment happened.

It FAILED. Keynesian Economics have FAILED.

Obamacare will add $1.8 TRILLION to the debt almost overnight.

SOMEBODY has to act like an adult and say ENOUGH is ENOUGH.

Expat our country is already in the process of a slow death. This process began in 1913 with the permanent federal income tax along with the creation of the Federal Reserve Banks controlling the money... Now the Federal govt. can do nothing without the Federal Reserve printing digital money out of thin air that the rest of us pay for through taxes and inflation...The Tea Party people are the only ones speaking the truth. While most say they are nutty. By doing simple math on the current state of our Federal Govt's debts and obligations, it becoming close to impossible for the US Govt. system to survive. The end is much closer than most will even ponder. When it does come it will be with a large crash. I expect it will be much like many other bankruptcies that has happened in other countries around the world. Remember the former USSR. Many did not see that coming and were shocked by it's demise.

Dawg, that's a narrow, one-sided view. Try the opposite perspective. The House bill funds every one of obie's foolish and overblown spending programs, many of which are actually harming the economy. It funds every useful and a ton of non-useful spending the Feds do.

The ONLY thing it doesn't fund it obieCare.

So who are the true politicizers? The Republicans controlling the House, which was given the power of the purse in the Constitution for the express purpose of controlling spending, or obie and Dirty Harry, who will shut everything down just so they can get their way.

Take a look at who is calling the other side names. Reid sounds like a little brat with his language.

Wheel, Some truth in your post, but DC is a room full of children possessed by self aggrandizement! We have a leader who behaves like a petulant adolescent. A bunch of wealthy old men/women (both D & R) who have gotten fat & happy off the system and have no clue of the reality outside the DC bubble. We have some young upstarts who haven't found their way yet. They appear blinded by their ideology for now. Only time will tell if they break out as they mature or end up like their stuffy predecessors!!

I'd like to see a fundamental change in the system, but that transition could be quite painful for our nation! I believe we face a slow death as a nation if the status quo continues, but also fear the potential short term damage of the alternative!

I only know that we can do much better than where we're at now!

The ultra conservative branch of the Republican Party is determined to gain public attention and essentially gain power within their own party. They are literally willing to cut off their nose to spite their face in re: to the government funding deadline. Should they be successful the results may be far worse than they imagine. Initially, the impact will be relatively minor, but if it continues beyond a few days the outcome will be major and possibly bring about a major decline in the economy. They are children playing with fire - and everyone can be burned.
