Weirton must be anti-growth is they want to disolve ports that could bring business to the area. Maybe they are still hoping to have someone build a new steel mill on all the empty land in the city and don't want anyone bidding up the price!

I wonder if a county could approach the State and have a city disolved? Maybe this is the answer to West Virginia problems just have county government and cut the size of government.

Something smells in this action. Why no public hearing on getting rid of the port at the state, county or city level? Why didn’t the city council sign the letter? Why is the BDC afraid of having a possible bidding war? Who makes up this BDC? How can a mayor dictate action to a State Port Authority? The main question is follow the money and politicians?

Wonder why the Mayor wouldn't want a port authority. They are significant economic engines around the world. This is a question that really needs answered bye ayor and Weirton officials.. Why is the talking

Who will be directing to docking of the luxury cruisers and the cruise ships of Carnival Cruises? Is there no concern for the naval vessels docked at the port or the fishing fleets that launch daily at sunrise? Where does the Wheeling PD dock their submarine and aircraft carrier?
