According to the FBI Uniform Crime Reports data for 2011 (compiled at the Clarksburg center you so love to talk about), blacks, who make up about 16% of the population, commit 49.7% of the murders, while whites, at about 60% of the population, commit 48% of the murders.

Blacks commit 32.9% of the forcible rapes, 55.6% of the armed robberies, 33.6% of aggravated assaults, 31.7% of the burglaries, 28.8% of the thefts, 33.9% of vehicle thefts.

Blacks are 16% of the population but they commit 59.4% of the violent crime.

This is all in black and white (excuse the pun) for you to read. These numbers come from every police department across the country and are based and evidence that leads to arrests.

The facts are the facts.

Blacks are more than 30 times more likely to commit a violent crime against whites than vice-versa.

Each year, there are about 16,000 cases of black on white rape/sexual assault. There are less than 10 white on black rapes.

You must stop posting these falsehoods. The vast majority of people in prison are there because they deserve to be incarcerated. I never took you for a liberal until now. For years, the black "leaders" have blamed their crime rate on racism-lack of jobs, discrimination from a white justice system, etc. You are taking it one step further and claiming that blacks don't even commit the crimes!!

"In the mid-1990s, the Center for Equal Opportunity analyzed 55,512 felony cases filed in state courts for the 75 largest counties, representing 37 percent of the U.S. population. The weighted data, taken from the BJS, revealed that juries actually acquit blacks at a higher rate than whites for 12 of the 14 types of crime studied — including murder, rape, robbery and assault. The only category that had a higher conviction rate for African-Americans was felony traffic offenses." -

You both are absolutley right. It ruins careers, families, and futures. It is wrong for her to have to carry around. I hope the justice dept does investigate this and comes up with an "honest" conclusion as they have not in the past. It is a joke. Sorry but have witnessed more corruption. Local FBI do investigations-and quite dishonestly.

Who is picking up Al and Jesse at the Pittsburgh airport for the Civil Rights march that they must be planning to extend from Wellsburg to New Martinsville while the black panther choir sings, "We Shall Overcome" and distributes phamphlets on how to file for food stamps and claim civil rights abuses? You know Abe Lincoln was right.

troll I am with you on this. There are hundreds of blacks in prison now who have been falsely accused. The recent dna tests have freed some of them. There is a high probability many innocent blacks have been executed for crimes they did not commit. The Wheeling situation is an example of how this happens.

I expect the Justice Department-now headed by a black man-will pursue this case.

Note that none of the various Boards- that really control Wheeling- have any people of color on them.

This is really a wake up call to move Wheeling out of the 19th Century into the 21st in many ways; beyond racial equality.

I believe Schwertfeger that it was an honest mistake. Unfortunate for the accused. It would do him good to go back and apologize to all the victims of false arrests during the past few years. I believe that this chief has good intentions-it would be really too foolish to do this deliberately but troll is right, how did they know her? For some, such arrests ruin lives. I am personally sorry for this woman and what she went through and hope she has the support of the community to keep doing what is needed for change.

Why did the Wheeling Police even know who Bonnie Grewe was when they so quickly misidentified the thief as her? Was it because she was a well-recognized pillar of the community? Probably. That’s the danger of being a recognized pillar of the community is that you’re so often mistaken in grainy crime scene video as the perpetrator.

The officers involved should be fired immediately. False arrests are serious. The Justice Department will be all over this; along with PI attorneys.

Wheeling is decades behind in every way; including racial issues. It is not just the police department.

The NR perpetuates the 19th Century thinking. The paper and its principals have done great damage to the City's progress.

There is a reason the City is back to 1870 population levels. Take a look around what remains of Downtown. Does it suggest the folks in power over the years have done a good job?

This brings to mind the days I lived in Memphis back in the early 1974. Picking up the news paper every morning, there was a list of crimes from the day before. At the end of 9 of 10 of them was this statement. And the assailants were said to be black. No other description was given. I thought it rather odd at the time, but soon learned that the Memphis police didn't care about much more of a description. Downtown was like a war zone, with gun shots heard regularly. I was so glad to move to Memphis State where the biggest threat was from streaking students. Wheeling police had better watch their step. These days a large law suite might be coming.
