Marketwatch "The U.S. will end 2013 as the world’s largest producer of petroleum and natural gas, surpassing Russia and Saudi Arabia, the Energy Information Administration said Friday.

The EIA estimated combined U.S. petroleum and gas production this year will hit 50 quadrillion British thermal units, or 25 million barrels of oil equivalent a day, outproducing Russia by 5 quadrillion Btu."

The more we produce the higher the prices?

Ignorant fowls cannot grasp the simplest of economics, Supply and Demand. Switching power plants from coal to gas in the USA depresses coal and raises gas and oil demand.

Germany terminating nuclear power plants puts more demand on other sources, predominately gas.

Japan's nuclear disaster puts more demand for oil and gas fired power.

Emerging nations like China and India put demand on coal oil and gas for power and oil for gasoline to fuel huge growth in automobile ownership.

Supply. Demand.

Of course. Energy and food prices will skyrocket. It's good for the Govts. plan of higher GNP with no official added inflation. But it will add to the tax base. Food and energy going up doesn't raise entitlements. But hey, we can get more on food stamps and heat subsidies.

From the EIA, "World energy demand and economic outlook Overview

In the IEO2013 Reference case, world energy consumption increases from 524 quadrillion Btu in 2010 to 630 quadrillion Btu in 2020 and 820 quadrillion Btu in 2040, a 30-year increase of 56 percent (Figure 12 and Table 1). More than 85 percent of the increase in global energy demand from 2010 to 2040 occurs among the developing nations outside the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (non-OECD), driven by strong economic growth and expanding populations. In contrast, OECD member countries are, for the most part, already more mature energy consumers, with slower anticipated economic growth and little or no anticipated population growth."

Some simple math here! The US produces 50 quadrillion British thermal units and world wide consumption is headed toward 630 quadrillion Btu.

Supply meet demand! The "we" in "The more we produce the higher the prices?" needs to be put into

Some people who are used to being on the government dole are in for a rude awakening. This is where we who are responsible citizens can have a smattering of satisfaction when undeserving welfare recipients get their free monies cut back. I see them every day, those who have all the latest ghetto attire, Air Jordans, "bling", pricy cell phones, baggy ugly azzed clothes that cost more than some people earn in a week, and buying unnecessary stuff are at the grocery store paying with food stamps. It is disgusting. You didn't earn it. I hope you all have to boil your expensive tennis shoes and eat them.

The article does NOT explain the reason for a 13 percent rise in natural gas price. America is awash in gas now with the 'boom'.

Does the greedy 1percent know a frigid Winter is coming? Nope. They just want more money. Greedy greedy, greedy! Has anybody got a 13 percent pay raise this year. yeah...riight!

From Scrooge- I don't mind paying for MY energy costs. But darned if I want to pay for those who make excuses as to why they can't pay theirs a. As observed- they always have money for the gamb machines, fast food, track, tobacco, beer etc. I think most know what I am talking about but won't say it.

All able bodied Americans should be required to work 40 hours per week in order to keep their welfare.

Able bodied people who receive welfare should also be on random d r u g testing schedules and temporarily lose their right to vote in federal elections. After all, if you aren't contributing, what business do you have voting on expenditures?

Get these welfare queens and yos off their Rent A Center couch and put them out to clean sewers, etc.

Kick ALL of the illegals out of the country and make the welfare crowd work those jobs.

As others have said, if you have money for d r u g s, gambling, expensive clothing, jewelry and cars, you have money to pay for your heating and health care.

Why are oil and gas producers opposed to wind and solar power? They can't charge you for the sunshine or the wind blowing.

Time to go back to COAL stoves!!!

Gee, I can remember when EVERYBODY heated with COAL and NOBODY ever had to complain about it being too expensive or not having enough heat!

I can recall setting in school near a window getting snowed on because they had so much extra heat they had to open the windows!

Houses all had 10ft ceilings, single pane drafty windows, wood panel doors, and ZERO insulation yet our heating cost was the lowest of our bills!

Today we have triple pane windows, insulated doors, heat pumps, geo-thermal, "high efficiency" furnaces and the heaviest insulation ever yet we are paying more than ever to heat our homes!

PROGRESS??
