If checking credentials is better left to us, why, then, do doctors, nurses, engineers, accountants, lawyers, financial advisors, car salesmen and contractors have to have state issued licenses?

Common sense dictates that you check on the credentials of anyone you are entering into a financial arrangement with. I always have and I always will anyone that doesn't is a sucker.

"The federal Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services doesn't have a similar option to check whether an agent has completed training necessary to work for consumers on a federally run exchange. The federal agency recommends consumers ask agents to provide a copy of the certificate showing they've completed training."
