The fact that the above is going on is just a reminder of how inadequate the Board is and the new administration is as well - The have no comprehension of money of how to spend it and how to hire - case and point hiring is a joke you can place an application and test and past under the old personnel they picked and chose who they wanted the secretary and the service personnel are idiots old and new - New "Renzella" and new Service personnel are no better ! No recourse from the anyone who you try talk to - The Board will not help you or tell you anything, the money they want to spend is our money and the people who want jobs are the people who pay tax their taxes. So that they the "Board" can get rich and even though there was a changing of the guard, the truth still remains they are corrupt, biased, bought and still being manipulated by a hirer force to destroy Marshall County Schools piece by piece by piece. They won't even hire a good person to clean the floors

Same story, diffferent school. They are totally out of control and the taxpayers keep passing the levies and they sit back and probably laugh at them. Not this taxpayer, did not vote for levies! NEVER EVER WILL vote for a levy!

Spend $6 million to save $80,000 per year? That is a 1.33% ROI each year. Of course, $6 million invested in an blue chip stock would yield 3-4% per year in dividends. Why not put $6 million into AEP and earn $180,000 in dividends?

The spending at the Marshall County School Board is just a small example of what is terribly wrong with our country. People who are elected to manage taxpayer money always-ALWAYS-forget why they are there. They would never manage their own funds this way and so it is clear that they don't care about their job or their duty to taxpayers.

Understanding the reasoning for a stupid decision is the only point I was making. Was never an endorsement of the idea. How that was overlooked in the discussion is beyond me.

Reading comprehension is an effective tool when entering into a discussion. I used the word understandable to discuss why in the world the board would invest in something with such a terrible ROI. Government entities will freely spend out of someone else's pot if it allows them to conserve their pot. Taxpayers always lose. In 3 posts I've never once defended what the board is attempting to do. This is a terrible idea but one that the board will probably sign off on.

The only thing PCS has not screwed up on their projects is lunch. This group needs tossed out of our state. At what point in time do the people of West Virginia look at the amount of extra money they've cost our school systems and simply disqualify them for any future work. Where's the information about the liquidated damages they've paid (if any). Cameron was 15 months plus over on schedule and now this debacle. You don't have to look far to get an uneducated excuse from (Who's Buying Lunch) PCS

88WVU is immensely qualified to be the next member of the Marshall County Board of Education! It's understandable to spend TAXPAYER money from the state rather than TAXPAYER money from the county??? Is it any wonder why levies pass in Marshall County. Total lunacy.

It doesn't save the taxpayers any money. The upgrade is terribly bad for the taxpayer. If the county can spend "state" building authority money to save on the yearly "county" budget it only makes sense for those on 4th street. It's essentially throwing money away but that is what government does best.

Just another excuse for another levy. Did these original estimators go to a Marshall or Ohio County school? or any school,or no school? This says a lot for our Ed. System. Being off by a few $$$ is one thing, BUT!!!!

I remember reading articles and comments about Cameron High School. Seems folks put the blame on both McKinley and PCS. Marshall County replaced McKinley on this job, but there is a 50% overrun. Think there might have been some truth to the problems with PCS too? Yep. It's ok, Marshall County taxpayers pay for all the incompetence. Crazy.

88WVU, The numbers are probably in the "park!" The savings would be in the months of heating the building. AC was and is all electric.

Please explain how spending the "state" money would "save" the county tax payers money? I'll give you a hint, county, state and federal tax payers are one in the same!

There has to be a mistake in those numbers. You can't spend $6 million additional dollars to save $80000 a year. If it's a matter of the county spending 6 million of the state's money to save $80000 of county money each year then maybe I understand their reasoning. Still unbelievably wasteful.

THE SCHOOL BOARD COULD SAVE MONEY FOR THIS WORTHY PROJECT BY CEASE HIRING THE "TRIPLE DIPPING" RETIRED TEACHERS, AND HIRE OUR OWN NEWLY GRADUATED TEACHERS, SO THEY DONT HAVE TO MOVE OUT OF STATE.

Using the numbers from the article the switch from electric to gas (going green) the ROI will take 75 years! When it's not your money......

BTW, JMHS is about 45 years old!
