It Isn’t Supposed To Happen Here

November 16, 2013

Ryan Kirker has spent the last five months in jail, accused of threatening President Barack Obama. But he didn’t do it, federal authorities said about a week ago. He has been set free....

Can't believe this so-called newspaper censored the word r*e*d*n*e*c*k*, that is the word red and the word neck.

That is both laughable and typical.

@oldsteelmaker: What is says is that many so-called Democrats are in reality DINO's - Democrats in name only. In other words, if you look different, talk different and most especially if you are not a blindly passionate lover of coal, guns and/or all things *******, you are the enemy.

These people wouldn't know the real enemy if it ran up and bit them on the posterior. But then, ignorance is indeed bliss.

I evidently missed any articles about how they came to believe that this letter came from this Benwood man. Why did they think that this man had sent this threatening letter?

This man will not get the time back with his dying father. Im sure that he must also feel branded by this, something that will be hard to overcome.

Fritz, clearly, you are correct. One need only read this paper and many of the comments on this site.

Fritz, WV is a Democrat state. If it's awash in hatred for obie, what does that say about Democrats?

Sorry Hoop, that was meant for dyin'.

As for ignoring threats, no, but do competent investigations. The FBI and Secret Service are supposed to be calm professionals, not Barney Fife types. Since there appears to be no actual capability to try an attack, just letters, the sensible thing that would have happened when Bubba was in office, or George or even Jimmeh, would be to haul him in, grill him, and do the analysis right away. Could have resolved this in a few days, and avoided wasting a lot of tax money. It's not like they have huge backlogs of threats to investigate.

Or maybe they do...

Maybe the real purpose was to put fear into the rest of us that "this could happen to you." Keep the rabble quiet.

Hoop, the bulk of the detainees have been released. What remains are the hard core jihadists.

Over 80% of the original group is gone, and most of the later captures have been carefully screened before commitment. There was about a 30% chance that previous releases ended up fighting again based on captures and kills in Iraq and Afghanistan, and those releases were the guys we figured were less likely to fight again.

Based on those stats, Hoop, what is your alternative to Gitmo?

Fritz, President Obama has said the "only" about 5% of the population is losing its health insurance due to the fact the policies don't meet new government requirements.

A recent UCLA study indicated that only 3.5% of the population is gay, an even less significant portion of the population.

Would you agree with the president that gay population is too small of a group to matter much????

Wake up and smell the coffee. This state is a sea of hatred for Obama, mostly racial in nature.

Walk into just about any working class or business lunch room. You can cut the ignorance, stupidity and homophobic and racial hatred with a knife. I know. I've seen and heard it many times.

It's not the secret service but head-shrinkers that are needed, because many of these people are clearly certifiable.

The United States incarcerates an absurdly high percentage of its population (mostly for non-violent offenses). Why does it do this? 2 reasons - money (privatization of the prison industry) and BECAUSE IT CAN.

Granted - this case was out of the ordinary, but once the federal gets their hooks in you... you're completely f$cked. Just ask someone else who spent time in West Virginia... Martha Stewart.

Your goberment has people at GITMO that have not been "charged" with a crime for 5+ years! Would the US be willing to let China, Iran, etc. do the same to US citizens?

It has been said-correctly-that the federal government could indict a ham sandwich if it had a mind to. This is proof that that bit of wisdom is spot on.
