Mr. Speaker, Mr....

The SOS event is more theatrical than anything else. We had Gov Tanman telling us what an incredible job he has done and more importantly demonstrated that he could read what some other guys had written for him. Economic development occurs despite the Staet Government not because of it and the energy business is here for the minerals, no wizardry in political shakedown backrooms brought them here. With each pat on the back the collected throng of people who make their fortunes by fleecing the rest of clapped and nodded as though the rock had been rolled back an Tomblin emerged. It was more a pie eating festival as the klingons cheered on their prospects for a bigger slice. We are having maybe tax cuts (no proof of that yet) but also revenue shortfalls and cutting services and jobs. Painting a sweet picture to soothe the concerns of the villagers occurred even though it and reality seemed mutually exclusive. Oh well, people living in a one party state don't ask anyhow.

The governor wants Natural gas produced here to be used here. Shouldn't that include reduced prices for Natural Gas to us, the household consumers? Why are our prices not the lowest in the country????
Due to special interests, especially plaintiff lawyers, he does not even mention instituting the Judicial Reforms that were extended to the Healthcare industry about 10 years ago. The healthcare industry is now attracting out of state investments creating many high paying jobs. Create the same Judicial Reforms for all industries, to allow all industries to boom, bringing jobs and prosperity to all Mountaineers. Do you think Jeff Kessler and Tim Miley will help create those reforms?
Thank God WV has a law forcing the Governor and legislature to balance the budget. Their overspending only ends up with a few hundred million in overspending each year that the Balanced Budget requires they pay off, like this years $200 million to $300 million shortfall.
For our 45,000 plus unemployed and 22,000 Mountaineers leaving HS and College each year to try to enter the work force, Governor Tomblin announced adding over 700 new permanent private sector jobs and 10,000 temporary construction jobs over the next 5 years.
He has also taken the bold step of suspending constitutional rights by declaring “A State of Emergency” whenever any natural disaster MIGHT happen. The bill passed last year prohibits all State, county and local officials from confiscating firearms in such “emergencies”... but NOT the Federal authorities. Why not??? Should not our 2nd Amendment rights be protected from all government confiscations?
