The bond between a working dog and its owner/handler tends to be special. It goes far beyond the connection between an owner and a pet. The service dog becomes a true extension of the dog, and the reverse is also true. I worked closely with dogs for more than twenty years. They simply did not add to your life, they were truly part of it.

In my opinon, dogs (animals in general) will ALWAYS be leaps and bounds above humans. They love unconditionally and protect to their last breath. Humans are selfish by nature. Some are giving and give so much, but as a general rule, humans will NEVER compare to the trust, love and companionship of a dog or cat or any animal.

The modern dog is a human invention, a type of biological technology. Over thousands of years of selective breeding and training dogs were literally "created" for herding, guarding, aggressive attack, tracking, search and rescue, hauling heavy loads, hunting, companionship, etc. Dogs are designed to be an extension of their human owners. Most people do not realize just how intelligent dogs can be.
