The outright ARROGANCE of these cronies is amazing!!!!

ALL monies collected as taxes, fees, licenses, permits, etc BELONG TO THE TAXPAYERS!!!!!!

Time to dissolve this corrupt government and start over!!!!

"It's not taxpayers' money"....WOW. This idiotic statement is indicative of the stupidity and arrogance that infest government at all levels.

EVERY DIME IN TAX REVENUE THAT COMES INTO AN ENTITY BELONGS TO THAT ENTITY'S TAXPAYERS!! Period. Can I make that any plainer?

Remember all those TIF projects that are paid for out of future "growth" revenues?

Since money coming from the outside doesn't belong to local taxpayers, perhaps Wheeling's taxpayers won't mind giving up that Homeland Security grant that funds 10 or more police positions each year.

So workers who work in the state and pay various taxes are "outsiders" and the money they pay does not belong to local taxpayers.

I will have to save this article for future reference.....

Apparently one of our county commissioners has a Hibernian Irish cousin. Any Irish names on the commission? hmmmm.....

Compared to yesterday's story of the Mayor worrying about getting a share of gambling revenue, does this really mean that the energy boom is netting that much in hotel tax? We are making more from workers filling up motels than we get from the Casino?? Even so its temporary money, the boom will end, so lets not spend it by hiring ten cousins and creating a new agency. Its a good thing but politicians with all of their klingons and supporters clamoring for kibbles and bits exhaust windfall money in a flash.

Where do they get these people?

"A lot of people think it's local taxpayers' money. They think it's taken from the general fund. That's not where it's coming from. It's outside money coming in. It's not really taxpayers' dollars. Unless they are staying in a hotel, it's not taxpayers' money," McCormick said. "It's basically outsiders' money. It's a win-win for a lot of organizations."

They say the same kind of things when they are spending federal grants!

Who are these non-tax payers and where do they live?

funny thing is when you travel to other areas of the country many have a "local" tax. Take a hard look at your hotel/motel bill when staying at Myrtle Beach and or Orlando. In those cases you would be the phantom tax payer. LOL
