This is exactly what will happen as all producers will now maximize production to recoup massive investment costs. The result may result in a lowering of the price which will increase the need for more production from current wells and/or a stoppage of drilling. As for a local company, this is why Consol Energy sold union mines to gain capital. Being poorly operated, they overextended capital expenditures are now nearly broke. They have further rolled the dice by spending more capital on more drilling. They will sell their nonunion mines soon if gas prices fall and they cannot recoup investment costs.
