Hagel: Time To Shrink Military

Defense secretary calls for pre-WWII enlistment levels

February 25, 2014

WASHINGTON (AP) — Looking beyond America’s post-9/11 wars, Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel on Monday proposed shrinking the Army to its smallest size in 74 years, closing bases and reshaping forces to......

Yeah it's time...

Iran is moving ahead with a nuclear program that U.S. officials said would be frozen, and it is now clear the USA and other world powers are willing to accept an Iranian enrichment program that Iran refuses to abandon, say analysts.

Iran has continued research and development on new, far more efficient machines for producing uranium fuel that could power reactors or bombs, and its stockpile of low enriched uranium has actually grown, according to a report by Institute for Science and International Security.

As reports are coming in that Russia has placed 2,000 troops in Crimea, within the borders of Ukraine, President Obama said that “the United States will stand with the international community in affirming that there will be costs for any military intervention in Ukraine.”

Charles Krauthammer responded on Special Report tonight saying, “The Ukrainians, and I think everybody, is shocked by the weakness of Obama’s statement. I find it rather staggering.”

Krauthammer thinks Obama’s statement is about “three levels removed” from actual action. He explained: Obama said “we will stand with the international community — meaning we are going to negotiate with a dozen other countries who will water down the statement — in affirming that there will be costs — meaning in making a statement not even imposing a cost, but in making a statement about imposing a cost — for any military intervention.”

“What he’s saying is we’re not really going to do anything and we

duhhRAT sneers, “Obama said his Father served in WWII”

We all know Obama’s Father was a bum who was not there. He meant his Wife’s Dad, Mr.Dunham, who was his Kansas-born ‘Gramps' who was the ‘Father Figure’ who filled the hole in the future president's life created by the absence of his Kenyan father. Sgt. Dunham's war years emerged from records unearthed by The Associated Press. On D-Day, documents place him at Stoney Cross, England, in the 1830th Ordnance Supply and Maintenance Co., Aviation. In a word, he SERVED! Give it a rest Wraith!

I really think duhhhRAT has slipped his cams. First he tells us Pres. Bush was shot down behind German lines. I correct him advising Old Man Bush served in the Pacific. duhhRAT comes back lecturing me that Bush served in the Pacific. WTF?

Anyhow, who gives a shirt. Bush left his co-pilot to die and jumped out to save his own skin. The other one or two were eaten by cannibals with Bush the sole ‘survivor’. Geezer G.H.W Bush has pangs of guilt to the present day. He shouldn’t. At least he served bravely unlike his AFOL bad-boy son who rarely, if ever, showed up for his guard duty but did hold constant company with Jack Daniels...hic...and reportedly did ’stuff'. A bum then. A bum now.

To my mind the real GOP war hero politician and all around good guy is Chuck Hagel who looks bad but quietly suffers with a load of shrapnel still in his chest near his heart which cannot be safely removed.

Obama Shrinking the Military? REALLY??

"Large numbers of Russian troops were reported landing at a military air base in Crimea Friday, prompting Ukraine to accuse Russia of a military invasion.

At the White House, President Obama said the U.S. government is "deeply concerned" by reports of Russian "military movements" and warned any violation of Ukraine's sovereignty would be "deeply destabilizing."

"There will be costs" for any military intervention, he said, without specifying what those costs might be. "

OOOOOOOH ! Crossed another line in the sand. Is Opie going to have Putin assassinated and dumped in the ocean?

Raver, compare this to LIAR of the YEAR Obama:

"Obama said his father served in WW II? Barack's father served in WW II?

He said so in a speech. Here is an 18 second video:

CNN News clip: **** : // **** youtube. com/watch?v=Fv4jnlkxOaw

Is he a compulsive liar? Were there no reporters who checked or double checked these statements and called the party on this? They did for everyone else. Why not him?

Like it or not, here are the facts:

Barack Hussein Obama Sr. (Obama's father) Born: 4/4/36 Died: 11/24/82 at the age of 46.

He was 5 years old when WW II started, and less than 9 1/2 yrs old when it ended. Lolo Soetoro (Obama's step father) Born: January 2,1935 Died: 3/2/87 at the age of 52.

He was 6 years old when WW II started, and 10 years old when it ended.

He must have been the youngest Veteran in the war."

Raver,

" Bush's aircraft was hit by flak and his engine caught on fire. Despite his plane being on fire, Bush completed his attack and released bombs over his target, scoring several damaging hits.[1] With his engine ablaze, Bush flew several miles from the island, where he and one other crew member on the TBM Avenger bailed out of the aircraft; the other man's parachute did not open. It has not been determined which man bailed out with Bush as both Delaney and White were killed as a result of the battle.

Bush subsequently returned to San Jacinto in November 1944 and participated in operations in the Philippines until his squadron was replaced and sent home to the United States. Through 1944, he flew 58 combat missions for which he received the Distinguished Flying Cross, three Air Medals, and the Presidential Unit Citation awarded to San Jacinto. "

Apples & Oranges from duhhhhhhRat with, "how does Cheney service compare with Obama”

Cheney is of a generation that faced compulsory military service. He ducked out with 5 deferments to escape Viet Nam. This included banging his wife endlessly until she got pregnant for one of those deferments. He was rewarded with Liz...or was it ‘Les’?

Obama grew up in a later era when there was no military draft, he merely was required to ‘register with his Selective Service Board’.

duhhhhhRat the light bulb salesman said, “....His Father George H.W Bush was a decorated pilot of WWII who was shot down behind German lines.”

As always Rat’s ‘military commentary’ is crazy wrong. Bush was not ‘behind German lines’. He was shot down by the Japanese over ChiChi Jima in the Pacific.

The whining from the teabaggers about cutting the military? Really? But cutting veterans benefits is OK?

"AP reports on the GOP's successful filibuster of Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders' veterans benefits bill: Senate Republicans have blocked a Democratic bill that would enrich health, education and job-training programs for the nation's 22 million veterans.

And why did Republicans—who "won" the vote because "only" 56 senators voted in favor of moving forward with the bill—decide to block it?

Republicans complained that the bill was too expensive. And they were upset that Majority Leader Harry Reid prevented a vote on a GOP amendment cutting the bill and adding sanctions against Iran for its nuclear program."

The whining, day in and day out about the muslim, communist, socialist destroying the country...."deficits, deficits" they whined? LOL

"WASHINGTON — Closing the books on a fiscal year in which the federal budget deficit fell more sharply than in any year since the end of World War II, the Treasury Department reported on Thursday that the deficit for 2013 dropped to $680 billion, from about $1.1 trillion the previous year.

In nominal terms, that is the smallest deficit since 2008, and signals the end of a five-year stretch beginning with the onset of the recession when the country’s fiscal gap came in at more than $1 trillion each year. As a share of the nation’s economy, the budget deficit fell to about 4.1 percent, from a high of more than 10 percent during the depths of the Great Recession."

Another reason to ignore the teabaggers.

MotherFGoose, how does Cheney service compare with Obama the Pot Smoker?

George W. Bush is the only POTUS that also flew military jet aircraft in an earlier life.

His Father George H.W Bush was a decorated pilot of WWII who was shot down behind German lines.

Obama's only prior experience with the military was smoking a joint in front of Pearl Harbor.

Cowtransvestite, how did Iraq work out?

300,000 Iraqis were being killed by Saddam Hussein. That number was reduced about 99%

35 million Iraqis freed from dictatorshp

Iraq held first free elections in 30 years

Iraq is NOW the 5th largest oil exporter to the USA.

Best of all, Saddam was CAPTURED by American troops, tried in a COURT of LAW by his PEERS, sentenced to death, and HANGED.

All thanks to George W. Bush

How does that compare with the midnight execution of bin Laden and the dumping of his body so that nobody could refute the story??

So why is 5 deferment=draft dodger Cheney running his trap about Obama cutting the military and disrespecting our troops?

Because Cheney knows the morons have forgotten "When Cheney was Secretary of Defense from 1988 to 1992, he cut the army troop levels by a whopping 25% and cut the military budget annually as much as Congress is doing this year."

Almost as bizarre as using a pedophile draft dodger and has been rock star to call the President names.
