The turnpike in that area is a perfect place for all of this to happen. It is flat as a pool table with wind even on a good day and its less than 50 m8iles from Lake Erie on nearly all of it. It only takes lake effect snow and some wind and the turnpike is a nightmare. The nature of the turnpike system, with limited exits to protect toll collection means that there are miles upon miles where motorists cannot escape to avoid the bad roads, no place to really even stop or pull over and hunker down. There is a separate road, #2 or 4 that parallels the turnpike that is a standard 4 lane where you can exit every couple of miles that is just as fast, its free and you do not get trapped in situations like this.

It may have taken motorists at the front of the back up only about 4 hours to get through the crash scene but it took the majority a lot longer than that. I arrived at the eastbound back up at mile marker 97 (4-5 miles from the pile up) at 4:15p and it took nearly 10 hours to get past the crash scene. The wreckage was horrific!

" The current cooling of most of the USA may be a result of climate change, due to the warming of other parts of the world, pushing the polar vortex air to Canada and the USA" The Climate Change Scientists mostly agree to keep their Govt. funding going into their pockets. The masses do not need to know that current Climate Scientists are deceptionist desendants of south American witch doctors and make their predictions after casting their lot of bones before preaching to us of all the evils of global "warming/climate change"

"To date, October-March temperatures are the coldest since 1899 – but they will rise some before the end of the month – and may pass 1912.)

77% of the US has been below normal temperature since October 1."
