March 13, 2014

WHEELING — West Virginia’s newly created Future Fund could still be sitting empty five years from now unless the state finds a way to grow its Rainy Day Fund by about $126 million by then, according......

dying: Ohio County has arguably the most promising wet gas deposits. Yet CHK is not pursuing them now; sitting on them.

folks: with(1.) coal on the decline and(2.) heavy industry closing plus(3.) the decline of gaming where do you think the money will come from? The rainy fund will be gone in five years. There is negative growth in WV. Medicaid will cost a fortune.

Liken this to an individual who makes $27,000 a year and has $29,000 in household expenses. Pretty tough for that person to put money aside for retirement.

We tax the "sin" tax smoking and drinking but not over weight tax and it cause more heart attacks,hi blood pres. and lots of other problems more than smoking so lets get of the smokers we pay taxes for what we cost the health system and drinkers do too only fair if we tax all who do things to add to med bills lets see how that statement goes over like lead ballon the overweight cost way more when you factor in all the dif things it causes and when they start chopping of body parts etc

displaced, I'm thinking that the House did the correct thing! Why create a second slush fund if you are tapping into the first one?

Atoddh, The gas play is getting interesting!

Just as I alluded to last week before its passage. The poison pills injected into this legislation just prior to its passage fundamentally changed the spirit and intent of the proposed future fund. Why is it only now that these lawmakers are coming to understand that their once grand plan has little chance without a re-write and/or new legislation to fix their short-sightedness?

Translation: WV is running out of money.

CHK is stalling on Ohio County drilling despite extraordinary results thus far. It would help if they moved forward.
