Public school system has been politicised. Thus anyone that really cares about their kids goes to the Private or Homeschool path. Sure, your kidss will miss out on all the alternative lifestyle lessons the schools are so excellent at indoctrinating with, but theyll learn other things like math, grammar, history, etc.

It seems evident from this article you have never taught elementary or high school. The problem is you have bureaucrats like yourself making decision " like no child left behind" and blaming the teachers and schools when the children don't succeed. Some kids and people just are not very smart. The world needs ditch diggers. For other kids their parents don't care or even encourage failure to bleed the welfare system even more( you probable don't know but a mentally challenged child affords the parents more welfare money. succeed.) Other kids excel and are in essence "held back" because the class is paced on the slower learners. Recently our beloved WV state school superintendent passed a law that every student in high school student is required to take 4 years of english and math. Sounds great but then they can't take the shop classes, music or other classes that help u succeed in life. (when is the last time you used trig in your job) out of words or
