Coal’s Decline Affects Budget

March 31, 2014

Exports are a key component of West Virginia’s economy — but they were down drastically last year. That does not bode well for state budget planners. During 2012, state businesses exported $11....

Despite all these facts, despite all the false predictions and despite thousands of dissenting scientists, some of whom are among the most prominent in their fields, the left dismisses all skeptics as either nonexistent, as paid hacks of energy companies or as the equivalent of Holocaust deniers. And always as “anti-science.”

The quotes are from an Article by Dennis Prager.

The REFERENCES are Overwhelming while Pompous AZZZ SlumDawg, a retired park ranger WITH ZERO SCIENCE EDUCATION or CREDENTIALS, RUNS HIS MOUTH in PODUNK.

"His actual position is that “at least 60 percent of the warming of the Earth observed since 1970 appears to be induced by natural cycles!" dah.

And to what did he attribute the other 40%? dah, you see grand conspiracies behind any evidence that we (and that means all of us) bear responsibility for what is taking place. It is not an evil conspiracy of liberals and socialists take control and destroy the American way of life. That is the stuff of paranoia. 1. Global warming is real. 2. It is increasing. 3. We have already waited too long to avoid what likely will be disruptive impacts to life on this planet. That tipping point has passed. 4. The more ghg we pump into the atmosphere the worse it will be. 5. This is not something the present generation can avoid. It's too late for that. 6. The best we can hope for is to not make it worse by clapping our hands over our ears and attempting to drown out the message of science. It's time to grow up.

Another cited scientist is Nicola Scafetta, who holds a doctorate in physics, teaches physics at Duke University, and is a member of the American Physical Society and the American Geophysical Union.

His actual position is that “at least 60 percent of the warming of the Earth observed since 1970 appears to be induced by natural cycles which are present in the solar system.”

These are only two of the scientists who have announced that their views were changed by the University of Illinois researchers who came up with the “97 percent” figure.

In other words, the “97 percent” figure represents very few scientists, and some of these very few claim that their views were thoroughly misrepresented.

Are THOSE your "CLIMATE SCIENTISTS" who overwhelmingly support Global warming, Alarmist Dog?????

The Web site PopularTechnology. net features scientists who are cited by the two researchers at the University of Illinois, but who deny that their scientific papers affirm the man-made global warming hypothesis.

One is Craig D. Idso, who holds a doctorate in geography. He is the chairman of the Center for the Study of Carbon Dioxide and Global Change, and a member of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the American Geophysical Union and the American Meteorological Society.

When asked, “Is this an accurate representation of your paper?” Idso responded: “That is not an accurate representation of my paper. ... It would be incorrect to claim that our paper was an endorsement of CO2-induced global warming.”

Her are the lies that Slumdawg promotes:

"a newer claim has appeared recently (cited, unfortunately, even by President Barack Obama): “Ninety-seven percent of scientists agree: Climate change is real, man-made and dangerous.”

That claim is false.

As reported in the Canadian national newspaper, The National Post, “The number stems from a 2009 online survey of 10,257 Earth scientists, conducted by two researchers at the University of Illinois. The survey results must have deeply disappointed the researchers — in the end, they chose to highlight the views of a subgroup of just 77 scientists, 75 of who thought humans contributed to climate change. The ratio 75/77 produces the 97 percent figure that pundits now tout.”

For those who haven't built a wall of denial around themselves, I recommend reading the recent issue of National Geographic's feature article on coal use globally. The writer particularly focuses on WV in the U.S. and in other nations were coal use is particularly important.

It will be interesting to read the reactions of other forum members.

Science is the belief in the ignorance of experts,” said Richard Feynman in the 1960s. Times change. Before about 1970, academics had access to modest funding they could use freely. Industry was similarly enlightened. After 1970, politicians substantially expanded academic sectors. Peer review’s uses allowed the rise of priorities, impact etc, and is now virtually unavoidable. Applicants’ proposals must convince their peers that they serve national policies and are the best possible uses of resources. Success rates are about 25%, and strict rules govern resubmissions. Rejected proposals are usually lost. Industry too has lost its taste for the unpredictable. The 500 major discoveries, almost all initiated before about 1970, challenged mainstream science and would probably be vetoed today. Nowadays, fields where understanding is poor are usually neglected because researchers must convince experts that working in them will be beneficial. (Guardian(UK)"We need more scientific maveri

Please get off the 'global warming' rant. It is all a big lie. No proof to it.

There is more proof that the Word of God is true than any global warming crap.

Would you rather believe the truth or a lie?

Most of those who subscribe to the theory of global warming are being deceived. Others are simply using 'the lie' to fill their own pockets with 'green' cash.

People would be wise to consider the burning heat of he11fire on the other side of this life...which will go on much much longer than the short time spent here on little old earth.

Please, 'greenies', swallow your pride, quit the foolishness, and get real. Spend your time on real worthwhile efforts like helping the poor, the widow, and the orphan.
