Sen. Saxby Chambliss (R-Ga.), vice chairman of the intelligence committee, says the administration told him he would be notified about negotiations for the release of terrorists. He now says he cannot “believe a thing this president says.”

Obama says his agents “consulted with Congress for quite some time” about prisoner exchanges with the Taliban.

Mike Rogers (R-Mich.), chairman of the House intelligence committee, says there have been no consultations since 2011.

Sen. Jay Rockefeller (D-W.Va.) says “I don’t like it when the White House says the intelligence committees were briefed. Because we weren’t.” He says Obama is “referring to .?.?. 2011-2012, when I was still in grade school.”

Obama is a SHOE IN for a Repeat Liar of the Year win for 2014!

Obama’s deal with the Taliban is worse than Iran Contra. He has utterly destroyed a foundation of US counter terrorism policy. I am furious over the ignorance and naiveté of Barack Obama and his team of mental midgets when it comes to justifying giving up hard core terrorists to secure the release of a soldier who abandoned his post and went AWOL. Obama and team insist the Taliban are not “terrorists.” Nope, they are like a nation state. Like Iran?

Absolutely like Iran!

Apparently, Obama’s inexperienced, uneducated advisors genuinely believed that they could make this deal and it would make Obama look good. At a minimum, they were banking on this taking the heat off of Obama for the VA scandal. You know, where he left behind US veterans who needed medical care but were abandoned to die.

The President's Oath Of Office

"I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States."

Notice the similarities.

A soldiers oath of enlistment:

"I, _____, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So help me God."

Sondra Andrews’ son, 2nd Lt. Darryn Andrews, is one of six soldiers killed reportedly while searching for Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl.

The sergeant’s return to captivity has stirred “very raw emotions.”

“It gets really hurtful when I think, this guy was worth my son’s life? My son who was patriotic? Who was a true soldier? Who defended his country with his life?” Andrews told Army Times via phone on Monday. “That guy was worth that? I don’t think so.”

Andrews also was upset to hear the U.S. government agreed to release five prisoners from Guantanamo Bay in exchange for Bergdahl’s freedom.

“I bet you anything there were soldiers killed or wounded capturing those five guys,” she said. “So what does that do for their sacrifice? They sacrificed for nothing, because they turned right around and let them go.”

It was the correct move to bring this man home, but it seemed odd how Obama seemed to embrace as a "warm" National moment when the admin had to know the suspect nature of Mr. Berdahl's story. And for Susan Rice to go on the Sunday shows declaring him as brave and honorable (now being walked back) is a head shaker. Do these folks really get their information from the news reports or are they just very poor at manipulating stories for political gains?

wonderwhy: "I think I will hold judgment. Have seen too many young men and women killed or wounded in the name of unfounded wars."

He wasn't drafted, that ended long ago, he volunteered. He took an oath. Of course to you that probably doesn't mean much. It has been established that he deserted he didn't 'wander off'. It was preplanned and premeditated. Only political pressure will prevent him from getting a court martial. 50 years in Leavenworth would be an appropriate punishment.

That seems reasonable.

Simply get to the bottom of the story. If he did desert his post he should face the punishment for it. If he collaborated and helped the enemy attack with greater accuracy US forces, then he should face punishment for that. Those that he spent time with usually beheaded captives soon after being taken. He must have given them some info or he would have been dead already. Five leaders traded for one AWOL EM , this country needs someone at least able to barter a whole lot better than this .
