SomeMore makes a great point that we should remember when we think of benefits and programs...that is that the pepole who pay for the programs seldom get much use from them, and the people who pay nothing at all to contribute to the program absorb the services at a very disproportiante rate. So its easy to see that old NR is true to color and is all about reducing public service jobs, at least those who sometimes mention collective bargaining or unions but I wonder if they will be as diligent when it comes to the vacant Finance Director's position that is now a paid ad in the NR to be filled by the same Mayor and City Manager who are commended for "right sizing" government...just not their part of it. No doubling of duties in their section, and for sure the NR did not put an editorial out about the City Manager's pay raise which is incredible in this local job market.
