Dr. Norman E. Wood
WOOD, Dr. Norman E., D.O., 72, passed away July 2, 2007. He was born to the late Ralph and Jessie Wood on December 1, 1934 in Moundsville W.Va. He graduated from Moundsville High School; and attended North East Missouri State Teachers College of Kirksville Missouri. He graduated from Kirksville College of Osteopathy and Surgery in 1964. He opened his practice in Mounds ville in 1965, and was on staff at Reynolds Memorial Hospital. Dr. Wood served Moundsville and the surrounding area for 41 years and loved every minute of it. Medicine was the love of his life. He also served as the Marshall County Coroner and the State Penitentiary Physician for many years. He was a 32nd Mason; was elected to the Moundsville city council; a member of the State Board of Licensing. He also was selected as Physician of the year by WV Society of Osteopathic Medicine. His hobbies were hunting, fishing and golf. He was preceded in death by both of his parents; and foster sister, Jewel Allum. Dr. Wood is survived by his wife Carole (Blake); ten children; 26 grandchildren and five great grandchildren. His children are, Dr. Ralph Wood of Ft. Lauderdale, Dr. Norman Wood ( Allison) of Deep Creek Maryland, Dr. Vic Wood (Jenna) of Wheeling, Rebecca Jenkins (Clarence) of Sonoma Calif., Dr. Greg Wood (Bonnie) of Moundsville, Cynthia Lalicker (Rodney) of Roseville Calif., Sgt Tom Wood (Tammy) of Moundsville, Jessica Flowers and Taylor Wood of Moundsville, and George Stefanow( Kathleen) of Wheeling. Service and internment was private as he wished. In lieu of flowers, please send contributions in memory of Dr. Wood to the charity of your choice. Dr. Wood’s children and immediate family would like to thank all of the community of Marshall County and surrounding areas for the loyalty and trust they placed in him. He truly loved and respected all of your support. His dedication to his profession and his untiring effort to improve his patient’s quality of life was truly his passion and love of his life. He will be missed by many.
