Linscott: No More Excuses

Cambridge girls ended one game under .500

November 21, 2007

Luckily for Cambridge girls’ coach Dan Linscott, his leading scorer returns this season.

Unlucky for him, she was the only one who averaged double figures.

The Bobcats finished last season at 10-11, losing in the sectionals to West Muskingum.

If the Bobcats are to improve, the numbers will have to come up, and he feels he just the team to do it.

‘‘This is the year of no excuses,’’ Linscott said.

Leading the way for the Bobcats will be senior Tamikka Snoddy.

Snoddy is a 6-foot center that averaged 12 points per game to go along with eight rebounds. Joining her will be Sarah Starr, a 5-7 guard.

Starr totalled 9.0 ppg, but her presence was mostly felt on the defensive side of the ball. Starr led the Bobcats with two steals per game.

Junior Taryn Payton is the other returning letterwinner, a forward that scored 5 ppg.

Looking to crack the starting lineup will senior forward Lexi Buxton (5-7), senior guard Debra Stevens (5-3), and sophomore guard Carly Kehn (5-6).

‘‘We will come to play every night and look for our seniors to provide great leadership,’’ said Linscott, who is entering his four season at Cambridge.

Gone from last season’s team is Megan Campbell, Lindsey Duff, and Lacie Mahley.

The Bobcats got off to a fast start in 2006, winning seven of their first eight games.

But a late-season slide doomed Cambridge as it dropped seven of its last eight, including five in a row to end the season.
