Andrew J. Tatich

TATICH, Andrew Joseph, D.D.S., M.S., 61, of Wheeling, W.Va., died Tuesday, November 20, 2007, in Ohio Valley Medical Center.

He was born on January 15, 1946, a son of the late Andrew E. Tatich and Della Elizabeth Moore Tatich of Moundsville.

He graduated from Moundsville High School in 1963, he received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Marketing from West Liberty State College in 1969. He earned the degree of Doctor of Dental Science from West Virginia University in 1975. Also during that year, he was recognized for outstanding achievement by the International College of Dentists. He was a member of Saint Peter and Paul Church in Moundsville.

In 1977, Dr. Tatich earned a Master of Science Specialty Degree in Orthodontics from West Virginia University. From 1979 to 1987. Dr. Tatich was a part-time faculty member of the West Virginia University Department of Orthodontics.

He was a guest lecturer at West Liberty State College Department of Dental Hygiene; and was an Associate Staff Member of Reynolds Memorial Hospital in Moundsville.

He was a past member of the Rotary Club of Moundsville. He was a Paul Harris Fellow and served as president of the club for the year 1995. He was also a WVU School of Dentistry Alumni Association member; the WV Dental Association member; a member of the WVU Orthodontic Alumni Association; Southern Association of Orthodontists; and the American Association of Orthodontist, serving as president of the Association in 1989.

Dr. Tatich operated the Andrew Tatich D.D.S., M.S., Inc. Orthodontic Practice from 1979 to 2005. Dr. Tatich retired from Orthodontic practice in 2005.

Dr. Tatich was an avid golfer and participated in many local golf events. He and his son, Drew were Father-Son champions at Belmont Hills Country Club from 1993-1998. He was also an avid fisherman, he especially enjoyed flytying.

Surviving in addition to his mother, are his wife, Sharon George Tatich, who he married on October 13, 1979; his son, Andrew J. “Drew” Tatich II of Morgantown; and his brother, Daniel E. Tatich of Moundsville.

Friends are invited to a memorial gathering on Friday at Altmeyer Funeral Home, Elm Grove Chapel, 154 Kruger Street from 1:30-6:30 p.m. A memorial service will be held at 6:30 p.m. with the Rev. Kevin M. Quirk, J.C.D. officiating.

Interment will be held at the convenience of the family.
