John M. Heilmeier Sr.

HEILMEIER, John Mason, Sr., 81, of Wheeling, W.Va., died on Monday, November 26, 2007, in the Wheeling Hospital.

He was born July 26, 1926 in Wheeling, the son of the late Joseph S. and Margaret Mason Heilmeier.

Mr. Heilmeier was a teacher for the Ohio County School System, retiring as a Principal for 19 years at Madison School in Wheeling; and was a member of St. Mathew’s Episcopal Church in Wheeling. He was a Combat Medic in the Army during WWII in the Asiatic Theater and received the Bronze Service Star. He also was a member of the Wheeling Lodge No. 5 A.F.&A.M. and the Osiris Temple of the Shrine in Wheeling.

Surviving are his wife, Rosemary Ann Huffman Heilmeier; a son, John M Heilmeier, Jr. and his wife, Judith, of Colerain, Ohio; a daughter, Mary Ann Flachmeyer and her husband, Thomas, of Clinton, N.J.; and five grandchildren, Justin Heilmeier, Mike Sankey, Kristin Heilmeier, Kari Flachmeyer and Kyle Flachmeyer.

Friends received on Friday, November 30, 2007, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Kepner Funeral Home, National Rd at Bethany Pike, Wheeling.

Services will be held on Saturday, December 1, 2007, at 10 a.m. at St Mathew’s Episcopal Church, 1410 Chapline Street, Wheeling with the Reverend Mark E. Seitz officiating.

Interment in Greenwood Cemetery, Wheeling.
