- From Wheeling take Interstate 70 east to St. Louis where you pick up I-44 south to Springfield, Mo., and from there go south on Mo. 65. (For a portion of I-44 you will be adjacent to the famous U.S. Route 66). Total mileage is 900 miles. Branson is located 35 miles south of Springfield, Mo. The Springfield-Branson National Airport (SGIF) is approximately 43 miles from Branson.
