WHEELING — Fireplaces. Windows. Lawn care equipment. Puppies.
The 39th annual Wheeling Area Chamber of Commerce Home and Garden Show kicked off Friday at WesBanco Arena in Wheeling with a series of displays for which the show has always been known — but the event also offers an attraction sure to get the attention of animal lovers, even if they may have to wait a few years before choosing home decor.
Jessica Barclay of the Perky Puppy in St. Clairsville is showing off three of her puppies, including Sam, a 9-week-old Boston terrier. “We are really enjoying seeing everyone here, and everyone seems to like our puppies. Sometimes the puppies are shy, but they seem to be enjoying the attention,” she said.
Barclay said her company specializes in “dog-sitting.”
“When people go on vacation, they can bring their dogs to us so we can spoil them,” she said.
In addition to the puppies, the main floor of the arena features displays of hardware, lumber, home decor, windows, flooring, tile, fireplaces, appliances, lawn care equipment, heating and air conditioning units, kitchenware, garage doors and many others.
The arena’s east concourse features arts and crafts vendors, while concessions are also available.
The show continues from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. today and runs from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.
