Joseph Capito

CAPITO, Joseph, 84, of Weirton, W.Va., passed away Wednesday, March 12, 2008, in the Weirton Medical Center.

Born August 23, 1923, in Weirton, he was the son of the late Louis and Mary Capito.

For 55 years, Joseph and his brother owned and operated Capito and Sons, a Weirton appliance store that was started by their father. He was a member of St. Paul Roman Catholic Church; Tri-State Marine Corps Club; VFW 2716; Moose Lodge 688; BPOE 1801; and the Pleasant Valley Country Club. Joseph also served as Past President for the Weirton Jaycees. As a Marine, he served in the South Pacific during World War II.

Joseph is survived by his wife, Dorothy Utter Capito of Weirton, whom he married April 19, 1947; sons, Jim Capito and his wife, Becky, of Weirton, and William Capito and his wife, Betsy, of Lutz, Fla.; brother, Herman Capito and his wife, Vi, of Weirton; grandchildren, Lorri (Herb), Holly (Ken), Julie, Lindsay, Billy Joe, Kristen, Jill and Ryan; great-grandchildren, Brandon, Morgan, Jerade, William, Austin and Cameron; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received Friday, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton, where funeral services will be celebrated at noon, Saturday. The Reverend Father Tony Thurston will officiate.

Interment will be in St. Paul Cemetery, where Military Services will be conducted by the American Legion Firing Squad.
