COLUMBUS — Making a mark on Ohio education will be the goal of two local school board members as Don Carpenter and Allen Mann have been appointed to some high profile committees within the Ohio School Boards Association.
Carpenter, a member of the Barnesville School District and Belmont-Harrison JVS, and Mann, a member of the Union Local Board of Education and Belmont-Harrison JVS, were both named to the Southeast Region’s Executive Committee.
“Don and Allen are two very hard-working school board members,î” Scott Ebright, deputy director of communication, for the Ohio School Boards Association said. “They take their dedication and bring views up that really help other board members across the state.”
According to Ebright, the executive committee provides governance and leadership to school board members to 18 counties. Mann also was named to two other OSBA groups which include the Federal Relations Network and the Legislative Platform Committee.
The Federal Relations Network is the National School Boards Association’s major grassroots lobbying force involved in federal issues. The network consists of two board members in each congressional district who are appointed by the OSBA president and then ratified by the OSBA Board of Trustees. Members work with NSBA through the OSBA Division of Legislative Services.
